Once Upon a Toy Reopens at Disney Springs

once upon a toy disney springs

Stores are starting to reopen around Disney Springs and Once Upon a Toy is one of the most fun!  Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Potato Head are standing guard outside.  The whimsical design from floor to ceiling and the colorful toys make it a great place to browse and shop.  Games, cars, plush, playsets, and dolls are the primary merchandise sold here.

Like other stores, there was is a  door dedicated to entering and another to exiting.  Masks are required everywhere around Disney Springs, except for when eating, therefore you must be wearing them in Once Upon a Toy. Because of its layout, the social distancing inside the store is mostly left to the customers.

Other Disney owned stores are rumored to be opening soon.  Is there a store you miss visiting?

NBA Board approves 22-team restart of 2019-20 season

NBA Disney World

The NBA’s Board of Governors has approved a 22-team format for restarting the league season in late July at the Walt Disney World Resort, another major step toward getting teams back onto the court and playing games again.

According to the Associated Press, the format calls for each team playing eight games to determine playoff seeding plus the possible utilization of a play-in tournament for the final spot in the Eastern Conference and Western Conference postseason fields, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because the league had not yet revealed the vote result publicly.

It is the most significant step yet in the process of trying to resume a season that was suspended nearly three months ago because of the coronavirus pandemic. There are numerous other details for the league to continue working through — including finalizing specifics of what the testing plan will be once teams arrive next month at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports complex and calculating the financial ramifications of playing a shortened regular season.

The details of the ongoing talks have not been publicly released, said the National Basketball Players Association and the NBA are continuing to work on a “lengthy” medical protocols document. The details of that document will be shared with teams once those discussions are completed. The NBA teams should receive them in plenty of time for them to prepare for their arrivals at the Disney-ESPN complex.

Yesterday we reported the news that the Major League Soccer association was looking to resume their season at Walt Disney World as well.

Disney World Cast Members are Returning to Work

disney world

Earlier we reported that Walt Disney World Resort hotel Cast Members will be returning to work this month. It’s now being announced that Disney is bringing back thousands of Cast Members.

Local union leader, Eric Clinton, updated his members this week with new details on how Disney will begin to deploy its staff again. According to the union, Disney full-time attractions and custodian workers will be called back to work this month.

Union members who work at water parks or other closed Disney World properties could transfer to other jobs where there are shortages. About 8,000 members from Clinton’s union could be called back to work.

Clinton explained that Disney is in need of employees to help maintain cleanliness and safety around the parks — including cleaning around ride queues and on the attractions, cleaning popular areas such as handrails, as well as to help maintain social distancing throughout the theme parks and in the queue lines.

Eric Clinton was not aware of what attractions would be reopening with the parks. “What we do know is there’s going to be a massive need for attractions workers across property. … There’s going to be a lot of work that needs to be done,” Clinton shared.

Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom parks are scheduled to reopen July 11 with Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopening July 15.
