Disney World Reopens Without Parades, Fireworks, Character Meet & Greets and more

Disney World Reopens

When Disney World reopens in July some of your fan-favorite offerings will not be available.

We shared the news earlier when the Disney World theme parks will reopen.

  • The Magic Kingdom & Animal Kingdom on July 11th
  • Hollywood Studios and Epcot for July 15th.

In the meeting with the Orange County Task Force Jim McPhee, Senior Vice President of Operations shared more information on what the Disney World theme park reopenings might look like.

Some of the items missing from the Disney World Reopening are:

  • Character Meet & Greets
  • Fireworks
  • Parades
  • No Children Play areas

You can read the full plan below.

McPhee also mentioned that he is going to limit crowds from forming in the parks with specialized Safety Cast Members like they are using in Disney Springs. Also, Walt Disney World will be utilizing a new Guest Reservation System Upon Reopening the Theme Parks.

“As you all might imagine, there has been a great deal of work put in to get the Walt Disney World Resort and our Cast Members ready to reopen in this new environment for our July 11th opening,” McPhee shared. “We rethought many aspects of our operation to help enhance safety and provide a great guest experience.”

“We’re now implementing this work and proceeding with training and development so our Cast is ready for this road ahead, and soon we will be welcoming our guests back. We believe this thoughtful, methodical, and phased ramp-up strategy for our property is the right path. Together we hope everyone will do their part to bring the magic of Walt Disney World back into this new environment.”

Shanghai Disneyland had the same restrictions in place but over the past few weeks started reopening those fan-favorite offerings.

Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online

Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online. Over the last year the hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen has been spreading like wildfire online. Star Wars fans who protest the film while in theaters have seemly changed their minds about Solo: A Star Wars Story, since it has appeared on streaming services and released on DVD and Digital.

Since the films release, many fans have come out to say that the film was not as horrible as they imagined it to be. In fact, some are regretting missing the chance to see the film in theaters due to protesting the casting choices, over saturation of Star Wars films in theaters at the time, and for the lack of faith in the Star Wars franchise to tell a story about pre-existing characters.

So what does this mean for Solo: A Star Wars Story? The new found fandom has been pushing for a sequel and they have a great idea about how it should be done. Though the film performed poorly in theaters, it seems to be very popular on streaming services such as Netflix. With Disney launching their own streaming service this November called Disney+, fans believe a spin-off film or series is in order. Maybe with less attention on Han Solo, specifically, but incorporating other characters from the film in new adventures during the time before A New Hope.

Lucasfilm and Disney have been hard at work to bring an untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series to the streaming service that will take place between, Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, meaning there is a chance one of these characters could also appear in the new series, since the timelines could cross.

The studios are also working on a third season for The Mandalorian with season 2 scheduled to release in Oct 2020, untitled ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series and a ‘Cassian Andor’ series. Recent reports also indicate several new Star Wars projects are in the pipelines for Lucasfilm but details are being kept under wraps for now.

What are your thoughts on a Solo: A Star Wars Story spin-off? Do you love the idea or are you completely against it? What other Star Wars Stories would you like to see come to Disney+? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for all things Star Wars!

Universal Orlando App Now Has Virtual Lines For Select Rides Prior To Reopening

Universal Orlando App Now Has Virtual Lines For Select Rides Prior To Reopening

The Universal Orlando Resort announced last week that they would be reopening on June 5th. They have released their list of safety guidelines and what will change in procedures once the parks reopen. Universal Citywalk recently reopened and it looks like a lot of the same precautions will be in place. You can see our article full of pictures and information on Citywalk’s reopening here.

Universal Orlando App Now Has Virtual Lines For Select Rides Prior To Reopening

Along with these new Health and Safety procedures in place, Universal is also working out how to make the parks have the least amount of contact. They are planning to do this through their official app with virtual dining and ride lines. As of today there are several popular rides that are now showing the virtual line options.

On the Universal app right now virtual line options for the following rides are available :

  • Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
  • Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
  • Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
  • Fast & Furious- Supercharged
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  • Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon
  • Revenge of the Mummy

It seems like Universal Orlando has a great system in place for their reopening. They reopen to Team Members on June 1st and 2nd, select passholders on June 3rd and 4th, and to the public on June 5th. Keep following along as we bring you updates on the reopening of Universal Orlando and how the new safety procedures work on the opening days.
