Disneyland can Reopen Under Phase 3 Guidelines as Early as June

disneyland

According to California officials and The Orange County Register, Disneyland and other theme parks can now reopen in Phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan.

“Theme parks are slated to open in Stage 3 if the rate of spread of COVID-19 and hospitalizations remain stable,” according to California Health and Human Services Agency spokesperson Kate Folmar.

California Governor Newsom says Phase 3 could begin in June.

“Phase 3 is not a year away. It’s not six months away. It’s not even three months away. It may not even be more than a month away,” Newsom said during a daily press briefing in mid-May. “We just want to make sure we have a protocol in place to secure customer safety, employee safety and allow the businesses to thrive in a way that is sustainable.”

Disneyland and other California theme parks are among the “higher risk” businesses and gatherings that would reopen in Stage 3 with adaptations and limits on the size of gatherings.

The state will work with theme parks on developing COVID-19 health and safety reopening plans.

There is no set date for when Phase 3 will begin and no California theme parks have submitted reopening plans yet.

Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series

Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series. Though Disney has yet to confirm the series, THR reported that Disney has ordered a 6-episode musical prequel series for Beauty and the Beast focused on the characters of Gaston and LeFou. The live-action film, released in 2017, grossed over $1 billion at the global box office and won over audiences world wide despite initial concerns over adapting the animated feature film into a live-action film.

Josh Gad recently shared a cryptic tweet with a photo of his performance as LeFou along with the caption: “This week I may or may not have hears a few new [Alan Menken] songs for something in the works and I may or may not be quaking with excitement.”

At the helm of the ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ prequel series are veteran Disney writers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. If those names sound familiar that’s because they are the writers for ABC’s hit television series Once Upon a Time. The pair has had a bit of experience writing Beauty and the Beast related content with that story being an integral part of the series and a major arc of redemption for the character Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

Both Josh Gad (LeFou) and Luke Evans (Gaston) are set to reprise their roles for the series, with rumors that Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince Adam) may appear in guest appearance roles. It is currently unknown if other cast members such as Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Kevin Klein (Maurice), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), and others will join the 6-episode series. Previously rumored to return is Oscar winning composer and Disney Legend Alan Menken, and it looks like Gad himself is confirming our suspicions that Menken will be composing the soundtrack for the series and it will incorporate musical numbers just like the live-action film.

THR reports that Kitsis, Horowitz, and Gad will be writing and producing the series for Disney+. No other details are available at this time. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co for all things Disney+!

Confirmed: James Mangold Replacing Steven Spielberg as Director for ‘Indiana Jones 5’

James Mangold Replaces Steven Spielberg as Director for ‘Indiana Jones 5‘. Director James Mangold (Logan, Walk the Line) has officially signed on as director for Indiana Jones 5, with Steven Spielberg moving into an Executive Producer role for the film. Recently, James Mangold spoke with ComicBook regarding how he approaches working in established franchises like Indiana Jones and X-Men.

When ComicBook inquired about his taking the reigns from Spielberg for the Indiana Jones franchise Mangold stated, “I can’t comment on anything like that. But, like in all my work, I’m always trying to find an emotional center to operate from.”

He continued, “I think the most important thing is, in an age when franchises have become a commodity, that serving the same thing again. At least for me, in the dances I’ve had with any franchises, serving the same thing again, the same way, usually just produces a longing for the first time you ate it. Meaning, it makes an audience wish that they just had the first one over again. So you have to push something to someplace new, while also remembering the core reasons why everyone was gathered. And to use Logan as an example of that, when you’re dealing in a world of a very pressured franchise.”

Since he was unable to give details regarding what he plans to do in the fifth Indiana Jones film he went on to use Logan as an example of how he keeps the core values of the characters and stories, though he may have unexpected content appear in his films.

“For all of the things, and there were many that I freed myself from in the canon, in the baggage, to try and make the best story,” Mangold shared. “The core values of Logan, of Wolverine, and Charles Xavier and the X-Men, were something that I felt we never abandoned. The core ideas of their honor, their sense of duty, and the uniqueness of this particular set of characters that they were outcasts, oddities. Beings that had no home in this world, and yet we’re trying to do good. Were trying to do something right and find their way. Those core issues were at the heart of the movie. And in any franchise I take in, I’d always be trying to capture and make sure that we preserve those core ideas that are at the center, because that’s why these stories are more than franchises. They’re the fairy tales of our contemporary culture.”

Production delays have been a major issue for Indiana Jones 5. Several issues involving members in both the cast and crews and now the COVID-19 pandemic, we are hoping to see filming begin sometime in early 2021, with a theatrical release likely in 2022-2023. Disney Fan Recreates Fantasyland and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in His Basement

Disney Fan Recreates Fantasyland and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in His Basement. Every dedicated Disney Parks fan would love to wake up and walk right into Disneyland or Disney World, but what is that WAS your reality?!?

YouTuber and at-home “imagineer” Travis, aka Larzland, came up with the idea to recreate his favorite portion of Disneyland in his, at the time, unfinished basement. His favorite attraction being Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Larzland now uses the “inside” of the ride as his base of operations and office while constructing the final touches to his recreation of Fantasyland. The basement also includes Snow White’s Scary Adventure and Pinocchio’s Village Haus.

Homeowner and creator Travis shared a short tour of his reimagined basement via YouTube:

Travis’ attention to detail is incredible, right down to the sprinklers! You can see the full tour hosted by Travis and TheDailyWoo in this second video below:

At the time of filming, Travis shared that the project is still a work-in-progress, and has shared a few videos on his channel on how he recreated the iconic landscape and attractions down to the tiniest details. You can check out his account by CLICKING HERE.

What do you think of his work? Would you want to walk right into a Disney Park from inside your home? What ways do you decorate your home to fill them with the magic of Disney? We would love to see photos and hear your stories in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney!
