Do a Star Wars Movie Scavenger Hunt at Home

Star Wars Scavenger Hunt

Looking for creative ways to entertain your kids at home? Do they need a new challenge or a way to practice skill sets? Maybe your child doesn’t even need something to do but they’re a massive Star Wars fan and would love an excuse to watch the original trilogy. Get ready to sign them up for the coolest online class in the galaxy: Star Wars Movie Scavenger Hunt!

The class is a one-week course, set up in two sessions. The first class is a 15-minute session after which students will.be required to watch episodes 4-6, keeping count of events that occur multiple times, identifying objects in the background, and answering questions about characters. It enables kids to practice observation-based skills, such as listening and note-taking, as well as critical thinking. The second session is 45 minutes long and involves a Kahoot! competition to see who knows Star Wars best! Because no child wants to be the scruffy-looking nerf-herder who comes in last.

The sessions will take place in the first week of June, beginning Monday, June 1st at 7 pm. It’s considered appropriate for kids aged 10-15 and costs $12 per person. Pending the success of this class prequel classes may become available as well. So go ahead. Be a rebel and check it out for yourself! Sign up here.

After a period of two months, Disney Springs made a triumphant return with its first phase of reopening this week. The current President of Walt Disney World Resort, Josh D’Amaro, congratulates Disney Springs cast members for both their hard work and contributions to the grand reopening.

Many visitors were thrilled to see the return of Disney Springs and went to its reopening on May 20, 2020. Being the first phase, only certain third-party retailers and restaurants were operating for guests this week. Josh D’Amaro made a special appearance to greet both visitors and the cast members who made this reopening possible. It was a special moment and one I will never forget as I move onto my new role. To all of the Cast Members who have warmly welcomed me into the Walt Disney World family….Thank You. To all of our guests that have stopped to say “hello” to me….Thank You. While my time here at WDW was relatively short, it was incredibly special. Our Resort will now be in the caring hands of @jeffvahle …an incredible leader and an amazing person. I will miss you all greatly. Please take care. #ThankYou #DisneyCastLife #DisneyParks #WaltDisneyWorld #magichasaname

He operated as President of Disneyland Resort in 2018 and was named President of Walt Disney World Resort in 2019. It’s been an amazing journey for Josh D’Amaro at the Walt Disney Company and he eagerly awaits the next step in his new role.

Try this at home Sleeping beauty donut cake

Sleeping Beauty donut cake

I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream.

For some of us, eating a donut cake does sound like a dream come true! If you watched the animated Sleeping Beauty film, then you will recall the lopsided cake the three fairy godmothers baked for Aurora. Today, we’ll show you how to bake your own Sleeping Beauty Donut Cake at home.

Ingredients

  • Donuts (store-bought or homemade)
  • White candy melts
  • 2 Cups powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tbsps milk
  • Dash of vanilla extract
  • Blue and yellow gel food coloring
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Long pretzels logs
  • Dark chocolate, melted
  • Marshmallows
  • Pink candles

Additional Items

  • Pink Candles
  • Toothpicks
  • Pastry brush
  • Piping Bags
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Use your choice of plain store-bought or homemade donuts. If using homemade, ensure the donuts are completely cool before decorating. I used 8 homemade baked cake donuts in total.

  2. Melt the white chocolate. Dip the donuts in, and let them set

  3. To make the glaze, combine sugar, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Add in blue gel food coloring until incorporated, then transfer into a piping bag. Snip a corner off. Then, pipe drips onto the donuts, smoothing the glaze out with a toothpick where needed. For the donut that is going on top, cover it completely with blue glaze.

  4. Use frosting or melted chocolate to secure the first donut onto the cake board or cutting board. Carefully stack the donuts.

  5. Combine yellow gel food coloring with vanilla frosting to create the yellow frosting. Add to a sturdy piping bag. Then, pipe on the yellow details on the top tier. You can use a dowel in the middle of the donut stack to hold them up if you wish.

6. To make the broomstick, use a long breadstick or pretzel stick and apply a layer of melted chocolate with a brush. When set, dip 1 end in melted chocolate and stick into a marshmallow on an angle so it’s leaning towards the donut tower. Stack another marshmallow underneath, attaching them together with melted chocolate.

 7. “Glue” the base of the marshmallow to the other side of the cake board with melted chocolate and wedge the “broomstick” between the top 2 donuts.

8. Combine more yellow gel food coloring with vanilla frosting to create a darker yellow frosting. Using this frosting, pipe long strands of icing onto the marshmallows to imitate the straw of the broom. Finish it off with a ring of piped dark chocolate approximately 3/4 of the way up.

9. Pipe small dollops of regular yellow frosting where the candles will go, then stick pink candles directly on top.

That’s it! This dessert would be a fantastic addition for a Disney birthday!

Man Builds ‘Harry Potter’ Monopoly Game from Scratch for His Girlfriend

Man Builds ‘Harry Potter’ Monopoly Game from Scratch for His Girlfriend. Chloé Niland received a magical gift from her boyfriend Alex Thompson who built a special Harry Potter Monopoly board game just for her! Aaaawww, #RelationshipGoals much?!?

The couple resides in the UK and, for those who do not know, there currently is not a readily available licensed Harry Potter Monopoly game available in the UK, or pretty much anywhere else for that matter. So Alex got the idea to make his own Harry Potter version of the famed game and it turned out incredible!

Chloé shared how the idea was born during the quarantine for COVID-19 while playing the standard version of the game with Alex.

“I read each of the books when they first came out and since the films came out I’ve also watched them a ridiculous amount of times too. Alex does enjoy it though. As much as he has made this game for me, it’s definitely for him too. We played the normal Monopoly again recently and started discussing how good a Harry Potter Monopoly would be as there would be so many choices for places to put on the game board. We both had a look online and couldn’t seem to find an official one anywhere to get in the UK. The only ones we found were other home-made versions.”

Alex shared, “I knew the Easter Holidays were coming up and that we wouldn’t be able to go out due to the lockdown, so I thought this could be a good time to do this project. As I wasn’t able to go out due to the lockdown I had to be resourceful and use what I had lying around, some pine skirting board and a couple of small sheets of plywood. I’ll always try and make something first rather than buy it and have done loads of DIY such as converting my own camper van so I know how to make most things.”

“It helps having the right tools including a newly purchased table saw – which was accompanied by a raised eyebrow from Chloé – But it was definitely necessary.”

Chloé also shared, “When Alex said he was making one I loved the idea! He’s spent so much time on it. He thought of, designed, and made pretty much everything himself including all the money and the comments on the Community Chest and Chance cards (or his version Quibbler and Daily Prophet cards).”

She continued, “His brother Andrew also helped to make some wooden dice to match with the wooden game board. The only parts he ordered online were the silver Harry Potter figures for the character pieces. Alex is frustratingly so good at everything haha! Particularly when it comes to thinking of an idea and making it. I’m so lucky that he’s so talented. My friends always say, ‘Is there anything he can’t do?’”

So how did the first game go? Chloé shared the results: “I won. We are both very competitive so at the start of the game I didn’t know if it was going to end well or in tears. I was determined to buy Hogwarts, which I did. But I was still devastated that Alex managed to buy the Hogwarts Express before me. I’ll get it next time.”
