Former Disney Cast Member Found to Have Paid Herself More Than $100K in Fraudulent Refunds

32 year old Jennifer Alejandra Insuasti, former Disney Cast Member (Guest Experience Services Coordinator), has been accused of misdirecting over $100,000 into her, family members’, and friends’ bank accounts. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Insuasti is charged with one count of grand theft of $100,000 or more after turning herself in on Monday in Osceola County.

Due to Insuasti’s position at Disney, she was able to pay herself in fraudulent refunds from March 2016 to July 2018. According to WESH, as a Guest Experience Services Coordinator, Insuasti would take care of guest complaints and offer refunds, free tickets, and free resort stays to unhappy guests. Of course, these weren’t the only tasks she was taking care of- Insuasti began to redirect refund money to her own bank account, as well as some of her friends’ and family members’. To try and cover up these incidents, she would use old refund accounts when redirecting the money.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Disney has records of 41 fraudulent credit or debit card refunds as well as four fraudulent check refunds. Insuasti is now being held at the Osceola County Jail with bail set at $100,000.

Abigail Disney Voices Opinion on Walt Disney World Reopening

With the phased reopening of Walt Disney World only days away, many folks are unsure about the necessity of the parks opening back up due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

One of these skeptics includes Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy O. Disney (the co-founder of The Walt Disney Company). Abigail went to Twitter to share her skepticism, writing: “Somehow opening is OK in Fla, but not in CA? What’s the difference? Very different governors is all I can think of. I can’t speak for what’s happening behind the scenes in CA, but Fla’s gov is, how shall I put this, more “pro-business” than Ca’s I guess.”

Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure had plans to reopen on July 17, though now the reopening is currently delayed indefinitely. The State of California will issue theme park reopening guidelines sometime after July 4. California’s Downtown Disney‘s plans to reopen on July 9, however, currently remain unaffected.

Walt Disney World still plans to reopen on July 11 with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and July 15 with Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Cast Member Previews are set for July 7-8 and July 13-14 while Annual Passholder Previews will be held on July 9-10.
