The Lion King on Broadway will reopen in 2021

The Lion King on Broadway will reopen in 2021 The Lion King

There’s an update for those who follow the “Disney on Broadway” show productions. Fans have been questioning when their beloved theatre productions would return since it’s been months since people saw the last on-stage performance for several Disney shows.  Today, we finally received confirmation that Disney’s The Lion King will return to Broadway in 2021, so the show will continue to entertain audiences next year.

It’s been a rocky road with the challenges presented by this year’s global pandemic. Many of us were hoping to see the live shows return this fall, but we’re better off waiting until 2021 if it means a better, safer Broadway experience for everyone.

The Lion King on Broadway will reopen in 2021

Several months ago, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo instructed Broadway to close down their plays. This included their current hit musicals, such as Disney’s Aladdin and Frozen. The show productions were halted due to the COVID-19 health risk.  The shows were canceled for a month’s duration at that time, but then it extended throughout 2020 as time passed. All Broadway productions were shut down besides the Disney on Broadway shows. Unfortunately, the Frozen production, which made its debut in 2018, will not be returning to Broadway. That production had its final performance before the pandemic closed down the theatres.

In the meantime, we still have shows such as Disney’s Aladdin and The Lion King for when we can safely return to Broadway!

The zebra foal is already super active running around the Sunset Savana and enjoying her time bonding with her mother Peebles, who you might have seen during your visit to the resort.

She is also the second Hartmann’s foal born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge this year! And was born as part of the Species Survival Plan program that is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

So next time that you visit Animal Kingdom Lodge, don’t forget to say hi to Phoenix!

“Light Up The Sky” With SeaWorld This Fourth Of July

SeaWorld is celebrating Fourth of July weekend and you can catch “SeaWorld Light Up The Sky” on three different nights. This new physically distant fireworks spectacular will be included with park admission and will be held on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th for more chances to see it.

To promote social distancing SeaWorld has additional viewing locations throughout their theme park. There will be spaced seating, increased sanitation, additional park signage and additional staff on hand. There will also be additional exits set up for an easier and safer conclusion to the night.

“Guest safety is our foremost priority and to be able to maintain safe physical distancing while still providing amazing vantage points of the fireworks presentation, we have re-configured the annual fireworks display to be viewable from multiple locations,” said Park President Kyle Miller. “We are committed to creating a safe environment for our guests so they can spend a memorable, fun and enjoyable holiday weekend with us.”

The best way to experience events like SeaWorld’s Independence Day fireworks or their upcoming Craft Beer Festival is with an annual pass. Florida residents can become a pass member for as little as $11.50 per month. Visit SeaWorld.com for all the details.

AMC delays reopening to July 30, 2020

AMC delays reopening to July 30, 2020 AMC Theatres

Today, AMC Theatres announced how they’re  delaying the reopening of their movie theaters until July 30th, 2020. The new reopening date is to help the movie chain better align with the rescheduled blockbuster movie release dates arriving in August.

For instance, Disney’s live-action Mulan has a new release date of August 21, 2020. Other releases such as Tenet, Bill and Ted Face the Music, New Mutants, and others will be arriving in theaters later this summer. It’s been a long time since many movies goers went to see a film due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But the new health and safety measures will help movie goers enjoy themselves once the movie chain does reopen.

Also, AMC Theatres is implementing a mask policy for future customers. The company will require all employees and guests to wear masks when the movie theater chain reopens. It was formerly an option for guests to wear masks in theaters, but AMC reversed its decision to better ensure health and safety with a mandatory mask requirement.

The movie theater company has taken other measures to ensure health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. For instance, common areas will be routinely disinfected, and each theater auditorium will be reduced to 30% capacity or less to maintain social distancing.

Garden Grill to Reopen with Modified Character Experience

Garden Grill to Reopen with Modified Character Experience garden grill

Great news for fans of character dining experiences! Garden Grill in Epcot is scheduled to reopen with the park next month with a modified character experience.

Garden Grill is the only in-park character dining restaurant that will be open when the Disney World theme parks reopen next month. It is also one of only two character dining experiences that will be available to guests. The other is Topolino’s Terrace-Flavors of the Riviera located at Disney’s Riviera Resort.

There is no specific information on how the character dining will be modified. Disney’s website says “Character Dining will not be offered during the initial reopening, with the exception of modified Character Dining experiences at Garden Grill Restaurant and Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera.”

We will continue to update as more information is released!
