Disney Has Episode of ‘Golden Girls‘ Removed from Hulu for Featuring Blackface. A controversial episode of The Golden Girls has been removed from Hulu for featuring a joke about the use of blackface. Though the characters Rose and Blanche are featuring mud masks and not intentionally using blackface, fans have been calling for the episodes removal pretty much since its premiere on NBC.

The episode features a storyline where Dorothy’s son chose to marry an older black woman. Neither Dorothy or the mother of the bride were thrilled at the prospect of their children’s marriage, but there was a reference to the use of blackface within the episode when Blanche and Rose enter while the bride’s family is present and say “This is mud on our faces, we’re not really Black.” Though the intended use of the mud masks was to crack a joke to break tension within the episode, it was never really received well by audiences, and has now been removed from the shows line-up on Hulu. It is unknown if the episode will also be removed from syndication.

The Golden Girls is not the first television series to come under fire for the use or reference of blackface. Other series such as 30 Rock, The Office, Community, and SNL have been under fire for the use of blackface in various episodes.

Hulu is an American subscription video on demand service fully controlled and majority-owned by Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International, a business segment of The Walt Disney Company, with NBCUniversal, owned by Comcast, as an equity stakeholder. Hulu is home to hundreds of shows and films and thousands of episodes from various series across multiple networks.

Arendelle World of Frozen Construction Update from Hong Kong Disneyland

Construction is underway at Hong Kong Disneyland for the Arendelle World of Frozen.

Guests will be able to experience the world of “Frozen” like never before – enjoying its sights, sounds, cuisines and traditions. The new “Frozen” area will feature a one-of-a-kind coaster called Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs that will take guests on a winding journey through Arendelle. Each experience on Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs begins when you visit Oaken’s infamous store. Then, Olaf and Sven help pull your sled to the top of the lift before sending you on your way.

As you can see the buildings are starting to go up in this Frozen-themed expansion.

Arendelle World of Frozen is expected to open with 2 new attractions in 2021, but with the long closure due to COVID-19, there is a chance that it might be delayed.

When the Minnie Main Attraction collection moved online, we didn’t get the MagicBands that were originally a Parks only option. As a surprise some Minnie The Main Attraction MagicBands from past collections have shown up on shopDisney! The March, and April MagicBands are now available!

Mad Tea Party Minnie The Main Attraction Band

In March we had the Mad Tea Party collection! This collection was inspired by everyone’s favorite spinning ride! The band comes in a collector’s box that matches the fun swirly print of the ears and backpack pins, plush, and the mug of the collection, it also retails for $34.99.

One side features the Tea Party Minnie plush, while the other side features the whimsical tea cups! This color scheme is gorgeous with the pinks, and purples, and subtle pops of mint.

It’s a small world Minnie the Main Attraction Band

For April we had the ”it’s a small world” collection! Just like the Mad Tea Party band, this one comes in a collector’s box that matches the ears, fanny pack, pins, plush, and the mug of the April collection. It also retails for $34.99.

April actually had a similar color scheme to the Mad Tea Party, but with a lot more purple, and pops of aqua. This band also features the Minnie Plush on one side, with details from the Clock and decorations of the ride on the other.

The May band featuring the Enchanted Tiki Room hasn’t popped up yet, but we hope to see what it looks like soon!

Disney’s Grand Floridian will be a host resort when the NBA comes and finishes their season at Walt Disney World. To prepare for the arrival of the players the Grand Floridian is putting up a fence around part of the resort.

We happened to see the fence being put up while we stopped over for the new Mickey Cake Pop. This was the section in front of the Gasparilla Island Grill.

Scott Gustin on Twitter has a map of where the fence seems to be going. It has been reported that teams will begin arriving July 7th. The fence seems to be going around the villas would would make sense since it has it’s own bus loop. You can read more about the NBA coming to Walt Disney World here.
