Mobile Dining Check-in to Replace Face to Face Restaurant Check-In

-*Mobile Dining Check-in to Replace Face to Face Restaurant Check-In mobile check-in

Many changes are coming to Walt Disney World when the resort reopens. One of those changes involves dining reservations. Guests will now be able to check-in for their dining reservations via their mobile device.

Mobile dining check-in via the My Disney Experience App will be available for select table-service restaurants. This new feature will allow guests to maximize their vacation time while also limiting contact with others.

Here’s how it works:

  • When your check-in window arrives, you’ll receive a push notification prompting you to check-in via the app. Or, you can begin the check-in process by scanning a QR code located in the restaurant’s lobby. There’s no need to visit the host stand to check-in.
  • From the push notification or QR code, you’ll be able to check-in for your reservation—and confirm your arrival time and party details.
  • Once your table is ready, you’ll be notified to proceed to a specified location.

Mobile dining check-in is just one of the ways Disney is implementing social distancing at Walt Disney World Resort. Check out the other changes coming to Disney World in our articles below:

For Guests wishing to confirm their reservations:

  • Contact the Disney Reservation Center to notify Disney of Guest’s confirmation.
  • As needed, Disney will move Guests from closed to open Disneyland Resort hotels during this time. This move will be at no additional cost to Guests. Note that they won’t have an option to modify to another hotel of their choosing for this reservation.

Disney is also trying to contact guests directly. If you have a Disneyland Resort reservation, you may receive an email similar to the one below:

“Dear Guest:

It’s time for magic – and we look forward to welcoming you back. As we prepare for your return to the Disneyland Resort, we know there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19. The safety and well-being of our Guests and Cast Members remain the top priority at Disneyland Resort.

We currently plan to begin reopening Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel on July 23, 2020.

The Disneyland Hotel will reopen at a later date. This means we are unable to accommodate your upcoming Disneyland Hotel room reservation at this time. However, we do want you to visit us and there may be opportunities to rebook at one of our other two hotels.

To modify your existing travel reservation, please contact the Walt Disney Travel Company at (714) 520-5050 between the hours of 7:00 AM PST and 9:00 PM PST, 7 days a week. If you are a Canada resident, please call (800) 496-6337. If you originally booked through a Travel Professional, please reach out to them directly if you have questions or would like to reschedule.

Should you decide to cancel your existing Disneyland Hotel room reservation, we will waive Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for your upcoming reservation. If you are unable to reach us before your check-in date to cancel your reservation, you will not be penalized or assessed Disney-imposed fees for cancelling your Disneyland Hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package after your check-in date for your currently existing Disneyland Hotel room reservation.

If you have already modified or cancelled your upcoming Disneyland Hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package, no further action needs to be taken.

Note that some package components are nonrefundable and subject to third-party operator cancellation policies. You should work directly with any third-party operators you have used to book any parts of your vacation package that were not booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company, including flights, travel protection and car rentals.

We do anticipate heavy call volume and appreciate your patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.

Sincerely,
Disney Destinations LLC”

Rick Riordan Shares Update on the ‘Percy Jackson’ Series Coming to Disney+

Rick Riordan Shares Update on the ‘Percy Jackson’ Series Coming to Disney+

Rick Riordan Shares Update on the ‘Percy Jackson’ Series Coming to Disney+. Fans of the Percy Jackson book series, commonly referred to as “Demigods” on social media, have been buzzing since it was confirmed that Percy Jackson would be getting a proper live-action adaption series on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.

Yesterday, Author Rick Riordan, who has had a very hands on role regarding the series, shared an update via twitter stating: “We’re in the very earliest stages of [Percy Jackson on Disney+]. I’m still working on the pilot script outline atm. WAY too soon for info on casting or anything else. BUT I am in the room where it happens, to quote the great [Lin Manuel Miranda], & will do the utmost to make you guys proud.”

Rick also shared previously, “We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky & I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now we have a lot go work to do! Buckle up, demigods. It’s going to be a fantastic, exciting ride!”

The only names tied to the Percy Jackson project are currently Becky and Rick Riordan. It is currently unknown when the series will begin filming or when it will premiere on Disney+, but we are excited none-the-less! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney+!

Director James Gunn Speaks Out on Rumors of a ‘Rocket and Groot’ Spin-Off Series for Disney+

Director James Gunn Speaks Out on Rumors of a ‘Rocket and Groot’ Spin-Off Series for Disney+

Director James Gunn Speaks Out on Rumors of a ‘Rocket and Groot’ Spin-Off Series for Disney+. Rumors recently began swirling that a ‘Rocket and Groot’ spin-off series was “in the works” for Disney+, but during a live Q+A, Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn decided to address these rumors as false… for now.

Gunn confirmed there has not been any work behind the scenes to create a Rocket and Groot spin-off series, but shared there is always the possibility for a Guardians of the Galaxy series in the future that could feature both Groot and Rocket as the protagonists.

James has frequently shared that Rocket is the character he relates to the most in the franchise and will play a major role in the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. A fan had reached out to Gunn on twitter asking, “[James Gunn] Is Rocket’s origin going to be part of Vol. 3?” To which James replied, “I’ll just say Rocket is a big part of what’s happening in the future – and a lot of this stuff (like the scars we’re about to see on his back) sets up what I’ve been planning for Rocket all along.”

Director James Gunn Speaks Out on Rumors of a ‘Rocket and Groot’ Spin-Off Series for Disney+

“When you asked me what was saddest for me when I thought it was gone—and anybody at Marvel can tell you—it’s this very strange and attached relationship to Rocket,” Gunn told Deadline in an interview. “Rocket is me, he really is, even if that sounds narcissistic. Groot is like my dog. I love Groot in a completely different way. I relate to Rocket and I feel compassion for Rocket, but I also feel like his story has not been completed. He has an arc that started in the first movie, continued into the second and goes through Infinity War and Endgame, and then I was set to really finish that arc in Guardians 3. That was a big loss to me—not being able to finish that story—though I was comforted by the fact that they were still planning to use my script.”

We are so excited to see what happens in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, especially since Thor joins the “Asguardians of the Galaxy” as he puts, it  at the end of Avengers: Endgame and Gamora from the past has gone missing! Not to mention, we should be seeing The Sovereign again, and likely the teased appearance of Adam Warlock. It is sure to be an epic third installment into an already jam-packed Trilogy. Can we just buy our tickets now? Because Marvel has us hooked!
