California Developing Reopening Guidelines for Disneyland and Other Theme Parks

California Developing Reopening Guidelines for Disneyland and Other Theme Parks disneyland reopening

Disneyland Resort recently submitted plans for reopening in July and now California is developing guidelines for Disneyland and other theme parks.

The Orange County Register is reporting that California state officials plan to issue COVID-19 guidelines and modifications for Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, and other theme parks.

According to state officials, Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm, Six Flags Magic Mountain, SeaWorld San Diego, Legoland California and other theme parks can reopen during Stage 3 of California’s road map for reopening plan.

“Theme parks are slated to open in Stage 3 if the rate of spread of COVID-19 and hospitalizations remain stable,” according to a statement released by state officials. “The California Department of Public Health will issue detailed guidance with suggested modifications for how to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spread when theme parks reopen.”

Disneyland plans to reopen the theme parks July 17th. Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain, SeaWorld San Diego and Legoland California want to reopen by July 1. Knott’s Berry Farm has not submitted a reopening date as of yet.

The Sacramento-based California Attractions and Parks Association has been working closely with the Newsom administration on reopening plans for California theme parks.

“California Attractions and Parks Association has been in frequent contact with the administration on behalf of the state’s theme, amusement and water parks and attractions since Gov. Newsom first announced the stay at home order,” CAPA executive director Erin Guerrero said. “We will continue to work closely with the administration as our amusement parks and attractions move closer to reopening in a thoughtful and safe manner consistent with federal, state and local guidance.”

We will continue to keep our readers updated as more information is released.

New Bag Check Area under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

New Bag Check Area under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Bag check

In a few weeks, we’ll finally see the grand reopening of Disney’s theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort. The Orlando area vacation destination closed their doors in mid-March due to the pandemic. Both Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom open to the public on July 11th, 2020. Based upon new aerial photographs, it’s looking as if guests can expect to see a new security bag check at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

If you look at the photos below, then you’ll find a new tram drop-off area for the entrance. The previous security bag check area has been demolished and the entrance will look brand new for visitors in July.

We were previously aware of other construction projects at Walt Disney World. The construction of the Tron Lightcycle attraction and magical makeover of Cinderella Castle are two current projects at Magic Kingdom. While this new security construction might seem less interesting compared to attractions, we’re sure the new bag check will improve the experience for Disney guests.

Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopen on July 11th. Then Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will reopen on July 15, 2020. We will provide coverage when the Disney Parks reopen next month and show the new entrance at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Will any of our fans plan a Disney trip when the theme parks reopen? Let us know in the comments!
