Disney World Tickets and Hotel Reservations for 2020 are Available RIGHT NOW!

Disney World is reopening this week, and that means that some guests are ready to plan their trips to the parks.

Disney World Tickets and Hotel Reservations for 2020 are Available RIGHT NOW!

Walt Disney World

During the historic Disney World closure, new ticket sales and hotel reservations were indefinitely suspended so that Disney could accommodate guests with existing reservations. New vacation packages for 2021 opened first and last night, Disney announced that 2020 purchases would be available TODAY. It’s official! 2020 Disney World tickets and hotel reservations are available NOW!

Currently, the only ticket option available is Standard Theme Park admission. We tried to select the option to purchase a new Annual Pass and were directed to the Experience Update page. One thing to note — there is no Park Hopper add-on option for 2020 tickets (you CAN add Park Hopper in 2021!).

In fact, the only add-on option is for the Memory Maker service. As of now, you’ll have to wait until 2021 if you want tickets with Park Hopper, Park Hopper Plus, or the Water Park and Sports option. Keep in mind that you should take a look at Disney Park Pass availability prior to booking — even if you’re looking at a 2021 trip.

Resorts with availability for 2020 have been listed this morning too! One thing to note is that the hotels with unannounced reopenings do NOT have any 2020 OR 2021 availability at this time.

We didn’t encounter any website issues this morning, but Disney did mention the use of virtual waiting rooms and rolling release times so let us know if you have any trouble! Stay tuned to DFB in the coming week for all the HUGE reopening updates.

NEWS! Disney World Annual Passholders Now Have More Options For Booking Their Park Pass Reservations

Disney World is mere days away from officially reopening. That means final preparations are underway to be ready to welcome guests back into the parks.

NEWS! Disney World Annual Passholders Now Have More Options For Booking Their Park Pass Reservations

Cinderella Castle in Reopened Disney World

One of the biggest changes has been the introduction of the Park Pass Reservation System, which requires guests to have both a valid ticket AND a reservation for access to one of Disney World’s theme parks. When the Park Pass system went live, a number of Annual Passholders were left in a confusing situation — if they held a hotel reservation, they were only able to book the length of their resort stay and NOT also their three days of passes at a time allotted to them as Passholders. It seems this has changed!

Previously, the online Park Pass system only identified guests in one of three ways — regular ticket holders, guests with hotel reservations, or Passholders with no overlapping. This meant Passholders WITH a hotel reservation were recognized in the system by their hotel stay, allowing them to book for the length of their stay. It did NOT let them go back and make the three passes they are able to book with their Annual Passes on top of those hotel-related passes.

As of today, the Park Pass system will allow Passholders with a resort stay to book BOTH. So they can book their resort passes for the length of their stay and then still book those additional three AP-related Park Passes. We had a number of readers reach out to us frustrated with this limitation, so if this applied to your situation, be sure to note you now have more Park Pass options as a Passholder.

This new information is noted on the site, but we haven’t been able to see it reflected for us just yet.

We’ll keep you updated if we learn of any changes to the Park Pass system in the coming days, and be sure to check back with us for our continuing coverage of Disney World’s reopening! We’ll be live in the parks sharing everything with you, so let us know any questions you may have!

Are you a Passholder who had been affected by this limitation? Let us know in the comments!

Are Gaiters Banned at Disney World? Here’s What You Need to Know About Disney’s Mask Policy

Even before local health officials mandated face masks in both Orange County, Florida, and Anaheim, California, Disney stated that all Cast Members and guests over the age of two would be required to wear a face covering while inside Disney World’s theme parks, hotel common areas, and Disney Springs.

Are Gaiters Banned at Disney World? Here’s What You Need to Know About Disney’s Mask Policy

Rainbow Mickey Face Mask

We’ve shared information about what Disney considers to be an acceptable face covering. But, there have been some inconsistencies between guest experiences and Disney’s official policy that could impact what type of face covering you should bring with you to Disney World.

The confusion has to do with gaiters, a popular style of face covering that is worn around the neck and lower face. Gaiters are an accepted form of face covering in many places, but whether or not they’re considered adequate for entry to Disney World has been a bit of a mystery. Disney’s policy doesn’t explicitly mention whether or not gaiters are permissible.

Disney World’s website does state that face coverings must “be secured with ties or ear loops,” which leaves some room for interpretation since some gaiter styles include ear loops. Does this mean gaiters with ear loops will be considered okay by Disney standards?

We’ve also seen gaiters for sale in some of the Disney Springs stores that are owned by third parties. Does that mean these types of gaiters will be allowed inside Disney World since they’re being sold inside Disney World?

Are Gaiters Banned at Disney World? Here’s What You Need to Know About Disney’s Mask Policy

Gaiters at Chapel Hats in Disney Springs

There are some forms of face coverings that Disney has specifically stated are unacceptable. So far, we know that Disney does not consider face shields an adequate face covering, but guests are welcome to wear them in addition to an acceptable face covering. Bananas are also prohibited since they aren’t snug enough against the lower part of the face.

Do I have to wear a mask when taking a photo in Disney World? Here’s what we experienced.

Recently, we’ve had readers tell us that Disney is no longer accepting gaiters as a valid form of face covering since they don’t fit snugly enough. Disney’s guidelines state that the face covering must “fit snugly but comfortably against the the side of the face,” and most gaiters hang somewhat loosely around the face. If we are to take Disney’s language literally, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear them confirm that gaiters aren’t sufficient.

In the market for some new face coverings? Check out our line of Disney Food Blog masks!

In fact, one of our readers shared that he was issued a disposable face mask to wear instead of his gaiter, rather than be turned away. BUT, we don’t advise you to try this. Disney likely would not have disposable masks to give out to every guest, and if they determine that your face covering is inadequate, you won’t be allowed in.

Are Gaiters Banned at Disney World? Here’s What You Need to Know About Disney’s Mask Policy

Cast Members

We have previously seen gaiters accepted at Disney Springs and we know some guests may intend to use them as their face covering when the parks reopen. BUT FOR NOW, we strongly suggest that you bring an additional style of face mask if your first choice is a gaiter. Even though Disney World’s website doesn’t explicitly prohibit the use of gaiters, we think based on the language that there’s a good chance they won’t be allowed. We recommend you carry a few ear loop or tie face masks as a backup, just in case. Better safe than sorry — and A LOT better than being turned away for not having a sufficient face mask!

We will continue to keep you updated on the mask policy at Disney World should Disney provide further clarification!

Disney is now selling extra-large face masks! Click here to learn more!
