How Will the NBA Keep Its Players Safe at Disney World? Here’s What Officials Have to Say.

It’s official, folks! The NBA is coming to Disney World!

How Will the NBA Keep Its Players Safe at Disney World? Here’s What Officials Have to Say.

NBA Experience

While we’ve already found out where the teams will likely be housed on Disney property and what amenities they should be able to experience, there have still been some discussions over what the safest ways to conduct the NBA’s season are currently.

According to the ESPN, the NBA will still be holding its season in Walt Disney World, despite the recently expressed concerns from the association. Since Florida has had a skyrocketing number of cases recently, NBA officials have worried about bringing the 22 teams to Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.

However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver expressed his confidence in the “NBA’s bubble concept” during a virtual meeting with the players and officials. During this meeting, there were concerns expressed about how the hotel housekeepers and custodians may not have to undergo COVID-19 testing, even though they will be in the areas NBA players will be staying on Disney property.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass has also stated that they are “closely monitoring the data in Florida and Orange County and will continue to work collaboratively with the National Basketball Players Association, public health officials and medical experts regarding our plans.”

NBA Experience

The league recently sent out a detailed guide about what precautions would be taken, including specific staff at NBA hotels, once-a-week room housekeeping without the players and staff present, the use of personal protective equipment and distancing measures from the Disney Cast Members, and non-Disney team bus drivers who will be subjected to testing.

NBPA executive director Michele Roberts has also noted “that access to the campus is severely limited” and that they will implement more health and safety measures and restrictions if they are deemed necessary. The NBA teams will begin playing their season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on July 31st. Since this is an evolving situation, we will continue to keep you updated!

Johnny Depp Dresses Up as Captain Jack Sparrow for the First Time in Two Years

Johnny Depp Dresses Up as Captain Jack Sparrow for the First Time in Two Years

Johnny Depp Dresses Up as Captain Jack Sparrow for the First Time in Two Years. The famed Pirates of the Caribbean actor has always been passionate about helping others, with one of his most notable feats being that Depp frequently would visit children’s hospitals while dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow while filming in various parts of the world. Recently, Depp made a virtual appearance with several patients currently being treated at Queensland Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

During the virtual appearance with Juiced TV, Johnny Depp shared, “It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been there and I miss it and I wanted to say hello.” Depp opened up about his love and willingness to visit with kids who find themselves in prolonged hospital stays and shared that it truly hit home in 2007 when his daughter Lily Rose was admitted and treated at Great Osmond Street hospital in London for E-coli poisoning. “When my daughter was ill in Great Osmond Street, it was the darkest period of my life, I’d always done these visits but after that experience, the visits became more and more important,” he said according to the Graham Norton Show. “The kids [at the hospital] are so courageous but to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to the parents means everything in the world to me.”

Regarding his virtual visit Queensland Children’s Hospital, Johnny Depp said to Daily Mail, “It’s a wonderful facility. I’m with all of you and I send you all my love, all my irreverence, and ignorance because it’s fun to be irreverent and ignorant. Thank you for sticking with me through all these very strange years.” He added, “These three beautiful young people I’ve spoken with this evening and having heard from people who sent videos in, like little Ula, is one of the finest and most beautiful experience that I’ve ever experienced and that is because of all of your commitment to this project and to taking care of one another and to helping out when times are curious and confusing.”

News: Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance Reportedly Won’t Use Boarding Groups At Reopening

It’s been quite the day so far with exciting news coming out of Disney World. For those itching to get back to Galaxy’s Edge when Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopens in Disney World on July 15, they may be happy to know that many of the major attractions and shops will be open.

News: Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance Reportedly Won’t Use Boarding Groups At Reopening

And yep — the reopening list includes the fan favorite Rise of the Resistance! This attraction has been the must-ride choice since it opened in August of 2019.

But we’re also getting word of another MAJOR development that will change the way we’ve come to experience “getting in line” for this ride!

We just confirmed via the Disney World website chat system that Disney World will not use any virtual queues (i.e lines for rides that are managed digitally, so you “join” them from a smartphone app). This was a possibility we had discussed in the past, and we know now that it looks like only standby (regular, good ol’ ride lines) will be available for Disney World’s rides and attractions.

Further, reporter Scott Gustin confirmed that this mandate includes Rise of the Resistance.

NEW: Disney has told Cast Members there will be no virtual queues used for attractions when parks reopen. This includes Rise of the Resistance. Single rider lines will also not be utilized.

This information has not been posted online (yet) but Cast Members have been informed.

— Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) June 20, 2020

That’s right, as of right now (things change ALL the time, however) if you want to join forces with the Resistance and take on the First Order, it sounds like your ONLY option will be a traditional standby queue. In addition to no virtual queues, there will be no Single Rider lines at any attractions, and the entire FastPass+ system has been temporarily suspended for the time being).

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance was a major development in virtual queueing for Disney World. When the attraction first opened, guests had to join a Boarding Group, assigned at random, via the My Disney Experience app on their smartphones.

Due to the immense popularity of the ride, these Boarding Groups were snatched up FAST. And anyone who wanted to ride essentially needed to be INSIDE the park gates before the official opening time to have a chance at riding!

Hollywood Studios Before Park Opening Waiting to Get Boarding Groups for Rise of the Resistance

Now, it looks as though anyone in Disney’s Hollywood Studios each day will have an equal shot to ride via standby queue. But to get the best chance to ride without too long a queue, you’ll want to arrive as EARLY as possible! May the force be with you!

Have you been on Rise of the Resistance yet? What do you think of folks only being able to wait in a standby queue for this attraction? Let us know in the comments!

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster

Disney Quietly Adds Fantastic Four to Disney+ Roster. Since the acquisition of Fox by Disney, many fans have wondered when Disney would begin streaming Fox titles on their new streaming service, Disney+. Some of the most anticipated films include the Fox created Marvel movies such as the X-Men films yet others like the Deadpool films have been deemed inappropriate for the streaming service. Though most of the X-Men films are currently streaming via HBO and HBO Max, Disney did quietly add Fantastic Four (2015) to the Disney+ library this week.

The synopsis for the film share on Disney+ states, “A young genius builds a portal to another dimension with help from friends and colleagues but an accident leaves one stranded and the others altered with unusual powers Four years later, the stranded victor returns as a megalomaniacal conqueror and the others must put aside their differences to stop him as the Fantastic Four.”

The movie is a surprise addition to the Disney+ roster and only received a minor announcement via the “New to Disney+” category on the Disney+ home page. Very few featured films have slipped through announcements before being surprisingly added to the streaming service and though it performed poorly in theaters it’s still an interesting take on the iconic characters from the Marvel Comics.

In a recent interview, actor John Krasinski shared that he would love to play Reed Richards for Marvel Studios. More recent designs of Reed Richards within the comics are looking very twin like to The Quiet Place and The Office actor. Rumors spread like wildfire that he was already cast in the role without auditioning after it was revealed Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt, was approached by representatives from Marvel Studios while on set for Disney’s The Jungle Cruise, with news spreading that Emily and John were offered the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm for the remake of Fantastic Four that would be the first F4 movie tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Neither Disney nor Marvel has yet to confirm any of these rumors, but it seems that Krasinski and Blunt seem rather rehearsed in their responses to questions about the potential casting, and have refrained from answering Yes or No so far… Both actors seem eager to work with Marvel Studios, especially after Krasinski came VERY close to playing Captain America in the MCU, previously, and Blunt being very active with Walt Disney Studios with Mary Poppins Returns and The Jungle Cruise.
