Tom Hanks Presents Special Pandemic Diploma for 2020 Graduates

Tom Hanks Presents Special Pandemic Diploma for 2020 Graduates. First and foremost: Congratulations to ALL the 2020 Graduates! Wether you are graduating from College, High School, and even to the 8th Grade, Elementary, Kindergarten, or Preschool graduates, the entire team at Chip & Co. is very proud of your dedication to education. We know you may feel robbed on the symbolism of going through a tradition graduation, but YOU DID IT! And THAT is worthy of celebration, even if we have to do it at a safe distance.

It seems Disney Legend Tom Hanks (Toy Story), who himself beat COVID-19 this year, wants to help you celebrate this major accomplishment too. Hanks shared a tweet with a photo of a special Diploma he had created for 2020 Graduates that worked hard and managed to finish their education despite the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Tom shared, ” To all the Grads of 2020, you Chosen Ones! Print this up on sheepskin! Hanx”

Clearly he is not serious about the sheepskin part, but the intention is clear. 2020 Grads deserve to celebrate this major accomplishment and be commended on their efforts to pursue their degrees despite the craziness going on in the world.

To the Class of 2020, hang this Honorary Diploma up with pride and we would love, Love, LOVE, to see your photos and hear your stories about how you celebrated your well deserved graduation in the comments! Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Disney and congratulations Class of 2020! You DID it!

Live-Action ‘Mulan’ Disney+ Release Date Potentially Revealed

Live-Action ‘Mulan’ Disney+ Release Date Potentially Revealed. A dedicated Disney fan on Twitter had been requesting information regarding the Disney+ release of Disney’s live-action Mulan and shared the response from the Disney+ Help Center. Unexpectedly, a representative at the help center may have let loose the premiere date of Mulan on the new streaming service. Oopsie!

The tweet read: “Hi Caroline, it’ll be approximately available to subscribers on October 27, 2020. Let us know anything you’d like to see added in the future here https://t.co/Lg7hfi84VG. Thank you for your time.”- Disney+ Help (@DisneyPlusHelp) May 22, 2020

The tweet has since been removed from the site, likely either due to inaccuracy or the unintended slip causing the House of Mouse to request its removal, but that hasn’t stopped the news from spreading far and wide. (Insert: “Now all of China knows you’re here.” Joke Here)

This comes as a bit of a surprise, and likely is outdated/incorrect information, given that Mulan is only set to premiere in theaters beginning July 24, 2020, and eagle eyed individuals noticed the leaked date matches the standard “6-months post theatrical release” Disney+ streaming date from the original release date, March 27, 2020.

Likely, this was an oversight by the Disney+ Help Center and Mulan will be added to Disney+ around the end of the year or in January 2021. Regardless, we are very excited for the release of Mulan and can’t wait to see this retelling of the classic story featuring the Hero of China.

‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ Will Not Be the Last Film in the Jurassic Park Franchise

Jurassic World: Dominion‘ Will Not Be the Last Film in the Jurassic Park Franchise. Recently, Jurassic World producer Frank Marshall spoke with Collider regarding the third film in the second trilogy and shared insight into the future of the franchise.

In the interview with Collider, Marshall was asked if Dominion would be the finale of the franchise and he immediately shut down that idea with an exuberant “No.” and added,  “It’s the start of a new era. The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time, I hope.”

Not too much in known about the plot points for the film, but the studio has shared Dominion is not an ending, rather the true beginning for the future of the franchise. Creating an all new world where people and dinosaurs will have to learn to live with one another.

Jurassic World: Dominion will also see the return of three original cast members from Jurassic Park, Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm) and Sam Neill (Alan Grant). The franchise veterans will be joining Chris Pratt (Owen Grady), Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) and Isabella Sermon (Maisie) from the second trilogy. It has also been shared that Dern, Goldblum, and Neill will have major roles in the film and will not take a back seat to the action in Dominion.

Chris Pratt was so excited to share the news and said it wasn’t easy keeping it quiet, “Man, I can’t tell you anything, but I can tell you it’s going to blow your mind. It’ll be the biggest and best yet. They spare no expense and they’re bringing everybody back.” Chris Pratt added that he’s had to keep it a secret for a long time. “I’m a professional secret-keeper in these movies,” he joked.

Are you excited to see the original cast together on screen again? How do you think Alan and Ellie will return? Do you think the characters will mesh well with Claire and Owen? How will the dinosaurs and humans learn to live with each other again? We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comments.

NEWS! Disneyland Releases More Details About New Vacation Club Tower

From new attractions to park makeovers, Disney has its hands full with the amount of construction planned over the next few years.

Downtown Disney

A while ago, Disneyland had proposed a Four Diamond hotel that would be placed inside Downtown Disney. When the idea was scrapped back in 2018, plans for a new Disney Vacation Club time-share tower started to form in 2019.

And, according to the Orange County Register, the new Disney Vacation Club time-share tower is still in the works for the Disneyland Hotel.

During an Anaheim town hall webinar, Disney revealed more details about the tower that is projected to open in 2023 (even though the current closures might push that date back).

Disney stated that “As with all projects, this proposed plan will go through a series of reviews as part of the project approval process with the city of Anaheim. Right now, we are in the entitlement process with the city, which is a continuation of an application submitted back on November 22, 2019.”

While we already know that there will be two multi-level Grand Villas on top of the tower along with a Mickey-shaped spa and outdoor pool bar, the Disney Vacation Tower will also have 350 rooms for guests. In comparison, the amount of rooms is pretty close to the size of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn with 378 rooms in Disney World.

In the town hall meeting, Disney also shared that the Disney Vacation Club complex would be arranged in an L-shape with a 12-story tower at the front and a 5-story tiered section in the back. There will also be poolside garden units and “interactive water features.”

As a courtesy to the residents of Walnut Street where the tower will be built, Disney will also put up a sound wall west of the pool to dampen the overall noise.

Disneyland has not released an updated timeline for construction, but Orange County was just cleared to move into “full stage two” of California’s reopening plan.We will keep you updated with more information and news on the tower.

Phase 2 Reopening for Orange County Moves Forward According to California Governor

disneyland

California Governor Gavin Newsom has approved Orange County’s request to reopen businesses. This is part of the second phase of the plan to ease restrictions.

In stage 2 Orange County will be allowed to have the following businesses reopen with adaptations:

  • In-person dining reservations
  • Retail shopping with social distancing and curbside pickup
  • Manufacturing
  • Offices (when telework not possible)
  • Outdoor Museums
  • Limited Services

“The County of Orange has met the State’s latest metrics to remove its restrictions on the re-opening of more businesses,” said OC Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel, Second District. “Orange County issued guidelines for businesses to operate three weeks ago. With this attestation, it is our goal to ensure all Orange County businesses have the confidence to open as safely and as soon as possible without concerns about the state order.”

A new order has been issued along with additional recommendations to help slow the spread of COVID-19. People are also being asked to wear face coverings while in public.

There’s still no word from Disneyland if this will have dining and retail locations at Downtown Disney reopening any time soon.
