Shanghai Disneyland Is Already Making Progress Less Than Two Weeks After Reopening!

Shanghai Disneyland has been re-opened for almost two weeks (can you believe it??).

While the hotels and parks have been welcoming guests again, Shanghai Disneyland has implemented multiple health and safety protocols to keep guests and Cast Members safe — including Health QR Codes, physical distancing, mask requirements, and more.

However, when the parks re-opened, there were a limited amount of attractions available to guests.

Parades and fireworks have been halted for the time being, along with play areas and theater shows. However, Shanghai Disneyland has still brought magic to the guests with the Mickey and Friends Express character processional several times during the day. They have also managed to promote social distancing while hosting the Evening Magical Moments — which lights up the Enchanted Storybook Castle and plays music at dusk daily.

But, since the parks have been open for a few weeks now, Shanghai Disneyland has started to slowly reopen other guest experiences. Although the park announced that they would be doing distanced character shows and entertainment, @gourmetdyy has been giving us a look at things available in Shanghai Disneyland currently!

Custodians at Shanghai Disneyland are bringing joy to guests through their water art, incredibly detailed paintings, and much more!

Since Shanghai Disneyland originally opened with limited attractions and restaurants, there are signs that Disney is progressing with reopening by bringing back select shows and dining locations. Some of the places you can visit now include Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular, Frozen: A Sing-Along Celebration, and Tribal Table restaurant.

While Disney World and Disneyland may not be open open yet, Shanghai Disneyland’s health and safety protocols have allowed them to already progress their reopening in under two weeks. At this time, the only Disney attraction open in the U.S. is Disney Springs, but Disney World is set to propose a reopening date by next week. We will continue to keep you updated on Disney Parks news here!

What are you looking forward to doing the most when the Disney Parks re-open? Let us know in the comments below!

NEWS! Orange County Has Started To Transition Into Stage Two of California’s Reopening Plan

Although Disney World began a phased reopening with Disney Springs, Disneyland still hasn’t released a statement about when it plans to start reopening the Downtown Disney or the parks.

An empty Downtown Disney

While there are currently no reservations available at Disneyland Resort until July 1st, Disneyland may be one small step closer to its own phased reopening plans with California’s recent announcement.

Since Orange County has met the required criteria, the surrounding area has been approved to transition into Stage 2 of California’s reopening plan, according to the Orange County Register.

Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle

This will allow for “in-person dining reservations, retail shopping with social distancing and curbside pickup, manufacturing, offices when telework isn’t possible, outdoor museums, and other limited services.”

Marcelines Confectionery

Orange County Vice President, Andrew Do, stated that they will “ensure that [reopening is] done in a safe manner” with “proper guidance, documentation, and safety precautions” to make sure that everyone is kept safe.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

The Health Care Agency has also set up guidelines for businesses to reopen, detailing that locations should:

  1. Perform a detailed risk assessment and implement a site-specific protection plan.
  2. Train employees on how to limit the spread of COVID-19, including how to screen themselves for symptoms and stay home if they have them.
  3. Implement individual control measures and screenings.
  4. Implement disinfecting protocols.
  5. Implement physical distancing guidelines.

You can take a look at Orange County’s full announcement here.

NBA Confirms That Disney World is Being Considered as the Location to Finish the Season

The NBA has confirmed that they’re in talks with the Walt Disney Company to potentially finish their season in Orlando.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

While the NBA season was previously suspended in response to health concerns, the league is now considering potential locations where they could finish the season at a single site. We previously reported that Disney World is a potential frontrunner, and the NBA has now confirmed that Disney is one of the locations being considered.

The NBA is currently considering resuming its season in late-July at a single site. The league is in talks with the Walk Disney Company to potentially hold games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which is located on Disney World property in Orlando.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill

According to NBA spokesman Mike Bass, the conversations are still exploratory, but in this scenario, the site would be used for games, practices, and housing. This would eliminate the need for travel, thus reducing potential health concerns.

Bob Iger also met with NBA owners earlier this year to discuss their plans for potentially resuming play.

Disneyland Reveals Plans for New DVC Property at the Disneyland Hotel

disneyland dvc

Earlier this year we shared info on the Disneyland Resort‘s plans to build a DVC tower at the Disneyland Hotel. Today we have new details on this Disney Vacation Club tower.

Here’s what we know:

  • The look of the new DVC tower will be in keeping with the retro look of the resort. It will be designed in such a way that it won’t be obtrusive to local residents.
  • The new tower will feature a spa, a pool, and some type of interactive water feature.
  • The tower will have 12 stories and an L-shaped design.
  • There is currently no timeline for completion, but the City of Anaheim is currently reviewing construction proposals. It was previously scheduled to open in 2023.

Twitter account @MagicAndWalnut shared that they, and local residents, were invited to a town hall webinar where details about the Disneyland Resort construction project were shared.

Magic & Walnut also shared a map that shows exactly where the new addition will be in the Disneyland Hotel complex. It appears that the 12-story hotel tower will sit in front of a single-story pool area and will be located next to the Frontier Tower.

This tower will be the second DVC property in California with Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa being the first. The tower will most likely be named after a section of Disneyland Park like the other three Disneyland Hotel towers.

While there is no set timeline for the project, The Walt Disney Company recently filed a construction permit for both demolition and construction for this project.

Are you looking forward to having another DVC property in Anaheim?

Let’s Grab a Slice! Pizza Ponte Has Reopened in Disney World

Disney Springs is back OPEN with places to shop and spots to grab a bite.

Pizza Ponte

While Disney-owned locations won’t be opening until May 27th, there are still SO many restaurants and stores that will be greeting guests again. Today, we’re making our way over to the newly-reopened Pizza Ponte to see how they’re handling the changes.

Pizza Ponte is one of the Pantina Restaurant Group locations reopening (you can see the rest of them here!) to guests in Disney Springs. Currently, the restaurant will be open from 12PM to 8PM with limited menu options. But, these hours are always subject to change!

Pizza Ponte

Patina recently stated that they would be instituting a Dine Safe: Commitment to Care program in order to make sure that health concerns and risks are minimized during operation and the hygiene protocols are at the CDC standard or above.

The Dine Safe Plan stated that the dining room would have the following requirements: face coverings for guests except while eating or drinking, redesigned table layout to allow distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols, the addition of hand-sanitizing stations, controlled access through designated entrances and exits, and single-use menus.

Dine Safe Certifications and Hand Sanitizer

When we arrived at Pizza Ponte, there were clearly marked entrances and exits for guests to use so the restaurant could control its flow of traffic.

Pizza Ponte

The spot encouraged the use of a QR code menu to reduce contact points with other guests. They had the menu posted as well.

The floor had plenty of clear markings reminding guests to physically distance.

Pizza Ponte

Pizza Ponte has changed its seating lay-out to separate tables to comply with its new procedures as well.

Pizza Ponte

As a part of the Dine Safe program, the Patina restaurant employees will be undergoing health checks when they get to work, sanitizing their hands when they arrive and continue to wash and sanitize their hands every 20 minutes of their shift, wearing masks while they’re at Pizza Ponte, and taking part in a comprehensive training program.

Pizza Ponte

At this time, Pizza Ponte is taking cashless payments only. There was hand sanitizer available at the register too!

Pizza Ponte

We thought that Pizza Ponte upheld the standards that both Disney Springs and the Patina Restaurant Group set in place to keep guests and employees safe. Stay tuned with Disney Food Blog as we explore a reopened Disney Springs for the next few weeks!
