Make Disneyland’s Famous Mint Julep At Home

As the weather starts to heat up here in California, we sure could all go for a refreshing Mint Julep right about now. Normally, summertime in the parks means a stop at Disneyland’s famous Mint Julep Bar. There’s nothing better or more refreshing than this delightful beverage. However, with the park being closed, acquiring this Disneyland staple is almost impossible. Not to worry, because we have a Disneyland Mint Julep recipe for you to enjoy at home!

Make Disneyland's Famous Mint Julep At Home

Here’s the ingredients you’ll need for your very own Mint Julep:

  • 3 Cups of Sugar
  • 8 Cups of Water
  • 1 Cup of Creme de Menthe Syrup
  • 1/3 Cup of Frozen Lemonade Concentrate
  • 1/3 Cup of Frozen Limeade Concentrate
  • Green Food Coloring (a few drops, optional)
  • Bourbon (optional)

Garnish:

  • Lemon Wedges
  • Mint Sprigs
  • Maraschino Cherries

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan, mix sugar and water. Bring to a boil by stirring occasionally.
  2. Cool mixture for 5 minutes, then pour into large pitcher.
  3. Add creme de menthe syrup, lemon and limeade concentrates, and a few drops of green food coloring. Then stir to mix.
  4. Refrigerate until liquid is completely cooled.
  5. Pour liquid into glass over ice. Add lemon wedges, mint springs, and maraschino cherry garnish.
  6. Add 1 shot of bourbon to each glass (optional).

There you have it! Just in time for summertime, a delicious Mint Julep. Until Disneyland opens its gates again, we’re definitely making a couple batches ourselves.

Disney Salutes the Military on Armed Forces Day!

From our friends at www.disneyfoodblog.com

On Armed Forces Day, Disney recognized military service members and veterans!

©Disney

Disney shared their support for the nation’s military with a look back at some moments in history!

Disney has a legacy of support for military veterans and service-members. So in honor of Armed Forces Day, they shared memories of previous displays — including a video of some incredible flyovers by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels!

You can also watch this heartwarming video saluting our nation’s armed forces.

Both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland also recognize the armed forces daily as part of the flag retreat ceremonies.

Flag Retreat Ceremony

Even though the parks are currently closed, the flags continue to be raised and lowered daily as a symbol of hope and a salute to all those who serve. We appreciate Disney’s continued dedication to recognizing members of the military!

Happy Anniversary to Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

From our friends at disneyparks.disney.go.com

Today is a special one for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as 29 years ago on this date, Muppet*Vision 3D was unveiled to the world! This is one of my favorite experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – my family has quoted lines from it to one another for decades. (My personal go-to: Sam the Eagle says, “It’s a glorious three-hour finale,” and Kermit the Frog replies, “You got a minute and a half!”)

Muppet*Vision 3D is based on “The Muppet Show,” the television series created by legendary puppeteer Jim Henson that aired from 1976 to 1981. The attraction was a special collaboration between Jim Henson Productions and Walt Disney Imagineering, and is the final released film featuring Henson as the voice of Kermit.

The theater is a perfect replica of the Muppet Theater from the TV show, and the Muppets invite you on a tour of their laboratory to show off their new movie-making invention: Muppet*Vision 3D!

If you’re anything like me, you’re so excited to get into the theater and see the show, most times you visit the attraction you probably just zip down the entrance hallway as quickly as possible. However, that hallway is a veritable Muppet Treasure Island of hilarity, so on this special day I’m sharing a few tidbits you may have missed on your last visit:

Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Security for Muppet*Vision 3D World Headquarters is taking a little break. Apparently they’ll be back in five … but the key is under the mat if you just can’t wait that long.
Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • The Muppet*Vision 3D World Headquarters Directory on the wall to your left is a study in comedic nomenclature, such as the Institute of Heckling & Browbeating with Statler and Waldorf as Curmudgeons in Chief.
Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • There are four doors off the hallway featuring various departments within the Muppet Labs. My particular fave is the Department of Artificial Reality, which offers a subtle secondary message: This Is Not a Door (that’ll mess with your mind if you let it …)
Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • There are photo portraits of 10 Muppets hanging on the walls as you walk up the hallway. Can you name them all?

I know right now we may all feel like we’ve been bolted to our seats like Statler and Waldorf, so hopefully you’ve enjoyed this anniversary salute to all Muppets, but mostly Muppet*Vision 3D!

Halfway to Halloween Takeover ©Disney

Yesterday marked the Halfway to Halloween point, and we got into the spooky spirit with LOTS of activities. We dressed up in our favorite costumes, sang along to “Grim Grinning Ghosts” with the Dapper Dans, got a first look at the new Haunted Mansion collection coming soon, and even added NEW mostly ghostly backgrounds on our home screens!

While we also gave you hot and cold running chills with the news of the Disney’s 2019 Not-So-Spooky Spectacular stream, you can still watch it on repeat HERE!

And, we recommend mixing up some terrifying treats to go along with it (especially those Jack Skellington cookies to honor our Bone Daddy host)!
