From our friends at chipandco.com

phased reopening

Phased reopening for Disney Springs will begin May 20! According to Disney Parks Blog, “Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.”

With COVID-19 concerns still present, there will be many safety procedures that will be in effect with the phased reopening of Disney Springs- a requirement that guests and Cast Members wear face masks, increased cleaning, reduced capacity and operating hours, as well as the six feet apart recommendation.

DisneySprings.com will have more information as the date for the phased reopening draws near.

Disney Springs Begins Phased Reopening on May 20

Disney Springs Begins Phased Reopening on May 20

A phased reopening of Disney Springs will begin on May 20. Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase. The rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.

As we continue to monitor conditions, and with the health of guests and Disney cast members at the forefront of our planning, we are making several operational changes. Disney Springs will begin to reopen in a way that incorporates enhanced safety measures, including increased cleaning procedures, the use of appropriate face coverings by both cast members and guests, limited-contact guest services and additional safety training for cast members.

We will apply learnings and ideas from leaders in the health and travel industries, and we’re also talking to our unions as we prepare for some cast members to return to work.

During the initial opening phase, Disney Springs will have limitations on capacity, parking and operating hours. Given this unprecedented situation, we appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate through this process as responsibly as we can. Additional protocols and procedures may be announced closer to the opening date. Please check DisneySprings.com as we get closer to May 20 for the most current information on operating hours, locations and safety procedures.

#DisneyMagicMoments: Share Your Disney Memory of a Special Mom in Your Life

by , Editorial Content Director, Disney Parks

As Mother’s Day approaches, treasured memories of mom warm the heart like no other time of the year. And earlier today, Walt Disney World Ambassador Marilyn West grabbed our attention with a heartwarming memory of her own from a magical Disney visit with mom years ago!

With the uplifting photos, Marilyn also challenged her friends on Instagram to post a similar Disney memory of a special mom in their life – and we’re loving what’s been shared.

Disney super fan Emily Sims from Magical Kinda Mama accepted the challenge and shared a touching photo of a favorite Disney memory with her children at Disneyland Resort.

Disney memories with mom can span generations like with cast member Lisa Mendillo. Lisa accepted the challenge and posted a heartfelt photo with her mom as well as with her new daughter surrounded by balloons and happiness.

Betsy. S and her mom and grandmother at Epcot.

For Betsy S. of the Disney Parks Moms Panel – her Disney memory with a special mom is with her grandmother during an unforgettable visit to EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort.

And this Mother’s Day, other members of our Disney Parks Moms Panel are sharing inspiring memories to mark the occasion.  Along with heartfelt advice about making Disney vacation destinations more magical, Aena D, Tiffanie S, Samantha K, Nancy W, Donyell R and Shantel H are also sharing their fond memories with mom or as mom.

Now, it’s your turn! We’re excited to see more favorite Disney memories of a special mom in your life. Share your photo or video now on Instagram tagging #DisneyMagicMoments and challenge three friends of your own to show their favorite images.

Be sure to check back for updates on this story and more #DisneyMagicMoments.

As we continue to identify ways to support our community during this unprecedented time, Walt Disney World Resort is joining together with Orlando Ballet to make a difference for the Central Florida community.

With the temporary suspension of the performance season at Orlando Ballet, staff from their wardrobe department have been hard at work using their talents to sew face coverings for the members of our community who need them most. To support this inspiring effort, Walt Disney World Resort donated more than 400 yards of fabric and 2,400 yards of elastic to the organization, which will be converted into an estimated 3,000 of these much-needed non-medical, non-industrial-grade face coverings for local healthcare workers. Check out this video to see how the teams are making a difference together!

“It’s an honor to collaborate with one of Orlando Ballet’s longtime supporters and neighbors — Walt Disney World Resort — on this project,” said Cheryl Collins, interim executive director, Orlando Ballet. “Disney does such inspiring work in our community and we can’t thank them enough for their generosity. Orlando Ballet is extremely proud of our team and volunteers who have come together to create so many face coverings that are vital to people in Central Florida during this time.”

For Costuming Strategy and Initiatives Manager Fredd Gunzel, who has worked at Walt Disney World Resort for more than 20 years and has a background in the arts, this story was particularly meaningful. It was only fitting that he would be the one to make this impactful delivery.

“In costuming, we’re all about taking care of each other,” said Fredd. “So being able to donate this fabric and elastic to Orlando Ballet to create these face coverings for our local community is something we are grateful to be a part of.”

In addition to this contribution, Walt Disney World Resort actively supports Orlando Ballet through dance programming sponsorship, financial and in-kind support.
