#DisneyMagicMoments: Step Inside Oga’s Cantina and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Rising moons! Tomorrow is an exciting day, as it marks the one-year anniversary of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In anticipation of this milestone, tonight we’re taking you on a virtual, 360-degree trip inside two of the most popular venues in the land: Oga’s Cantina and Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities!

These two videos capture one of my favorite things about traveling to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu … I literally just love standing still and looking around. There’s so much to see, so much to hear, so many incredible details to soak in – I seem to discover something new every time I visit.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is the perfect place for this type of visual exploration, with its eclectic selection of rare and mysterious items. In this 360-degree video, you can look around the shop and learn more about many of the artifacts that adorn its walls.

Oga’s Cantina is where people gather in Black Spire Outpost to share their stories with one another. In this 360-degree video, you can look around the vibrant watering hole and listen to the music provided by DJ R-3X (I’m pretty sure you’ll recognize the tune he’s playing). You may want to watch this while using a pair of earphones – it sure sounds like there are some whispers from a galaxy far, far away I’m detecting in there. After all, you never know what you may overhear in Oga’s Cantina …

Check back with us tomorrow here at the Disney Parks Blog, as we will have more coverage of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge one-year anniversary at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

And if you look around our Disney parks and resorts on your next visit, you’ll also notice some great tie-dye styles.

Tami Reed shared her favorite shirt at Disney’s Riviera Resort.

And in the latest “Stories from the Parks” series, we shared #DisneyCreators experiences from guests and friends enjoying the epic adventures at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that included tie-dye fashions from Anabelle Blum and family.

As you can see in our step-by-step instructional video above, transforming an ordinary T-shirt into a beautiful Mickey tie-dye shirt with splashes of color is easy and fun.  And it begins with Mickey ears and tracing.

After tracing, the art of tie-dying continues by tying the shirt – soaking and adding dye. Then, wrap and wait 24 hours. Here’s a look at all of the steps to follow:

And just like that, your creative Mickey tie-dye shirt is ready!

Fall Fun at Magic Kingdom Park

From Sept. 15 to Oct. 31 you are sure to “fall” in love with Magic Kingdom Park all over again. You’ll soak in the aura of autumn with Main Street, U.S.A. dressed in fall décor and other seasonal offerings.

Of course, Halloween is THE fall holiday, and there will be some bewitching surprises this year, including a special Halloween-themed cavalcade with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and pals wearing their favorite Halloween costumes. You may even spot those rascally chipmunks, Chip ‘n’ Dale, in costume over in Frontierland, and look for other Disney character friends dressed up and riding the horse-drawn trolley down Main Street, U.S.A.

And speaking of costumes, get yours ready! To bring some Halloween party fun into the park this year, for the first time guests of all ages can wear your funniest, Disney-ist, most creative costumes during Magic Kingdom Park regular operating hours from Sept. 15 to Oct. 31. As an important reminder, costume masks are not permitted for adults; only children younger than 14 years old are permitted to wear costume masks. In addition, all guests are required to wear approved face coverings during their visit. Before you arrive, check our Know Before You Go page and Costume Guidelines.

As you can see in these new photos, our cast members are prepping pumpkin-themed wreaths that will adorn lampposts up and down Main Street, U.S.A., putting you in the fall spirit almost as soon as you step foot inside the park.

Fall Fun at Magic Kingdom Park

Autumn at Walt Disney World Resort wouldn’t be complete without our popular fall treats, such as the famous Pumpkin-spiced Waffle Sundae at Magic Kingdom Park. Visit our official Foodie Guide to Fall Treats at Walt Disney World: Parks Edition, which features all of the yummy details.

Festive
Halloween-themed merchandise will be available in select locations around the
park. Featured items include a new spirit jersey, Loungefly backpack and
candy-swirl Minnie Mouse headband, along with a selection of apparel inspired
by Disney Villains and more.

And be sure to capture your special moments with Disney PhotoPass! Photographers will be available throughout the park for themed photo opps. But beware – happy haunts may materialize in your pictures!  We’ll share more fall and upcoming winter holidays details at Walt Disney World Resort soon, so keep checking Disney Parks Blog for updates.

#DisneyMagicMoments: The Rohdes, Less Traveled – Swahili Architecture

Hope you’re ready for another episode of “The Rohdes, Less Traveled.”  In this episode, we explore Swahili architecture and how it works as a storytelling medium at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Of course, we had to set up each interview somewhere at our house or in the yard … thousands of miles away from Kenya or Orlando. Luckily, we found a spot that was pretty convincing.

#DisneyMagicMoments: The Rohdes, Less Traveled – Swahili Architecture

Stay tuned for more #DisneyMagicMoments like this as we continue “The Rohdes, Less Traveled” series.
