Welcome Back to Downtown Disney District, Phased Reopening Begins Today at Disneyland Resort

Today, Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort begins its phased reopening with a variety of specialty shopping and dining experiences.

The health and safety of guests, operating participant employees and Disney cast members are at the forefront of our planning. Several operational changes have been implemented based on guidance from health authorities to promote physical distancing and enhanced cleanliness throughout the Downtown Disney District. To learn more about what you can expect on your next visit, check out Disneyland.com/DTD.

To help guide you through these new measures, cast members from our Guest Experience Team are walking throughout the Downtown Disney District to help explain our new health and safety measures and answer any questions you may have. They, along with other Downtown Disney cast members, are on hand to encourage everyone to follow these measures for the health and safety of us all.

Disney Parks Blog Presents Disney Paper Parks Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, Part 2

Today, you can complete your Disney Paper Parks of Main Street, U.S.A. and the “Magic Happens” parade with the release of part two of Disney Paper Parks. Once completed, know that we have more printable, 3D activity sheets on the way, and in the meantime, enjoy moving the floats down your parade route at home as pieces of moving art!

When Imagineers Stephanie Jazmines and Amy Young designed Disney Paper Parks for the Disney Parks Blog, they wanted to remind guests how big of an opportunity a blank sheet of paper can be. If that sounds familiar, it was a mantra of Disney Legend and Imagineer Marty Sklar.

Stephanie said, “With today’s increasing emphasis on the digital, it’s always rewarding to step back and remember what you’re capable of making with some imagination and your own two hands.”

As a reminder, the activity sheets require the use of scissors, glue and folding along dotted lines in specific directions. For best results, we recommend printing the sheets at their actual size, not scaling them to fit the page. For those with little ones, we also recommend adult participation or supervision.

“It’s amazing what you can create with a single piece of paper,” Amy said. “So, grab your art supplies, pack your patience and take your time to create your very own paper park. We are so excited to see Disney fans bring these pages to life!”

By downloading Disney Paper Parks, you acknowledge and agree that these materials are being provided to you for personal, non-commercial use.

Cinderella Castle is Ready to Welcome You Back to Magic Kingdom Park

Just as we’ve missed you, I know many of you have missed visiting our parks and on your next visit there will be a lot of new things to notice. We have introduced new health and safety measures throughout our parks, like physical distancing and modified restaurant menus, and at Magic Kingdom Park we’ve also continued the royal makeover of our beloved castle.

As I shared earlier this year, Cinderella Castle is currently in the process of receiving a royal makeover and the work is nearly complete! The treasured icon at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort is being made over with bold, shimmering and regal enhancements befitting The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Walt Disney Imagineering helped select the new royal color scheme to give Cinderella Castle its glistening new look. Special elements, such as a sapphire dusting on the blue rooftops and gold trim, were added to make the iconic spires sparkle in the sun. Here is a sneak peek at the regal new look, which you might see our painters applying the final coats of paint and adding the finishing touches to if you’re planning to visit Magic Kingdom Park over the next several weeks:

Cinderella Castle looks more stunning than ever and I can’t wait for you to see the progress we’ve made when we reopen Magic Kingdom Park on July 11.

Walt Disney World Resort 2020 Theme Park Ticket Sales and Disney Resort Hotel Bookings Resume July 9

In just a few more days, we’ll begin welcoming the first guests back to the theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort, starting July 11 with Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and followed July 15 by EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’re continuing to prepare for these openings in a measured and deliberate way, implementing health and safety measures with cast members and guests in mind.

As you may recall, earlier we had temporarily paused 2020 ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel bookings so we could focus on helping existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders plan their visits with the new Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system. We are glad to share that beginning tomorrow, July 9, we will resume ticket sales and Disney Resort hotel bookings for 2020. Guests will soon be able to purchase new tickets and plan future visits throughout this year with the Disney Park Pass system, which we are using to help manage attendance during this reopening period.

For those looking to make their plans right away, please note that tickets and Disney Resort hotel bookings may be released at different times throughout the day tomorrow. In addition, we will use virtual waiting rooms as needed to manage the high volume of guests looking to plan their visits.

All guests with valid admission are required to make a reservation in advance for each park entry, so be sure to check the park reservation availability calendar before purchasing any new tickets and then go directly to DisneyWorld.com/DisneyParkPass after your purchase to make your park reservations. Reservations are limited and subject to availability. Please note that, during this phased reopening, some tickets, ticket options and Disney Resort hotels are unavailable, but there are still a variety of options to choose from.

Though the experience may be different than the last time you visited, there is so much to look forward to, with many favorite attractions and dozens of entertainment offerings, including special new character cavalcades and the Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

If you’re planning a visit for this year, we recommend checking out our “Know Before You Go” page at DisneyWorld.com/Updates, where you’ll find tips and information like how to make park reservations after purchasing your tickets.

We realize that everyone’s situation is unique, so if you have specific questions about your plans, you may call the Disney Reservation Center, submit questions to the Disney Parks Moms Panel or speak with your travel provider for more details. We hope to see you real soon!
