REVIEW – Sunshine Seasons Is a Quick Service Dining Option that Shines Bright at EPCOT

EPCOT may be considered the foodies park, and for good reason, but sometimes you may just want something inspired by American cuisine rather than something international. Sunshine Seasons is currently the only quick service dining option inside Future World. The good news is the food is pretty great. The other good news is it offers convenient mobile ordering and an interesting setting.

Our team visited EPCOT this week and I was curious about the state of things at Sunshine Seasons. So with a suggestion from me and a Twitter poll to our followers, our team visited this quick service location. The menu at Sunshine Seasons is one of the largest of any quick service location on Disney property, though it is slightly reduced right now. The focus is primarily on American modern classic fare, but there are a few Latin and Greek influences too.

The Land Crusher Sandwich and Oak-grilled Salmon at Sunshine Seasons

Our Twitter followers selected two entrees for our team to (hopefully) enjoy:

  • Oak-grilled Salmon – Served with Cheese Grits and Andouille Corn Succotash, $12.99
  • The Land Crusher – Pulled Pork and Cheddar piled high on Texas Toast served with Chips, $10.99

Good job Twitter followers! Both entrees were enjoyed by our team. The Land Crusher won out. It is a robust sandwich that could feed two people, but is perfectly acceptable if consumed by one person. It is delicious. You might get a few curious looks when eating this large, messy sandwich, but it is worth it.

Oak-grilled Salmon at Sunshine Seasons

The Oak-grilled Salmon is a great option for those that prefer something healthful, but satisfying. Salmon at Walt Disney World does have a sad tendency to be overcooked, and such was the case with this dish. Still, the cheese grits and Andouille succotash (corn and lima beans, peppers, and Andouille sausage) were two really great sides that helped elevate the plate.

One of the helpful resources on our site and our Lines app is the listings for every Walt Disney World dining option. Thanks to our readers we are able to include ratings and rankings for every restaurant. Our readers giving Sunshine Seasons a 90% thumbs up rating, and rank it at number 27 out of 108 quick service options at Walt Disney World. This makes it one of the highest rated options and a great choice.

Mobile ordering is available at this location, which is one of only two quick service locations at EPCOT with it available. Mobile ordering is really convenient especially when you place your order while in line for a ride, and then check-in to pick up you’re order when you’re done with the ride. Sunshine Seasons resembles a modern mall food court, but the dining area is in beneath the atrium of The Land pavilion with views of Living with the Land boat ride and Soarin’ creating an exciting atmosphere. There are four sections of seating, each with tables that resemble one of the four seasons (not the band, the actual seasons).

Have you ever dined at Sunshine Seasons? Where’s your favorite place to dine at EPCOT?

Halloween Activities for Kids for a Hauntingly Fun Stay-at-Home Celebration

Happy Halloween! If you are looking to plan a spooky celebration at home this weekend, look no further than these Disney activities to keep the seasonal spirit (or spirits) alive! Dress up as your favorite character, and then transform your pumpkins using these stencil carving templates of Minnie Mouse, Tinkerbell, Jack Skellington, or a Vampire Mickey. Not quite ready for carving pumpkins this year? Use paint, a small pumpkin, some glue, and this downloadable cut-out to recreate The Child’s ears from The Mandalorian.

Trick-or-treaters who are staying indoors may want to decorate their rooms with some delightfully ghoulish décor: string together cobwebs, bats, and Mickey using different color paper to create a Halloween Time banner.

Kids can see who can “spot the difference” quickest in this Haunted Images game, while parents prep the ingredients for delicious Pumpkin Twists, Ursula’s Octopus Cupcakes, or Hidden Mickey Halloween Cookies.

At the end of the night — and the candy bowl — keep the party going by celebrating #DisneyPlusHallowstream and tuning-in to watch 13-year old Marnie and her family on her adventures with the supernatural in “Halloweentown” on Disney+.

If you are looking for last-minute inspiration, check how fans of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, or 20th Century are celebrating their Halloween at home, and tag #DisneyHalloMoments on Instagram to join the fun.

#DisneyMagicMoments: Create Your Own Disney Cruise Line Pumpkin Tree Book Nook at Home With Our DIY Tutorial

With Halloween approaching frightfully fast, we are bringing some ghoulish Disney Cruise Line fun to you at home. During our Halloween on the High Seas cruises, every Disney ship boasts its own signature Pumpkin Tree in the atrium lobby. Now, you can create your own pumpkin tree book nook at home using our DIY template

Disney Cruise Line Pumpkin Trees are inspired by Ray Bradbury’s classic tale about the traditions of Halloween, “The Halloween Tree.” The trees magically transform from eerie and barren into the life of the party, with sprouting Jack-O-Lanterns, flickering lights and a booming voice. Each Pumpkin Tree is unique and tended to by a mysterious caretaker, who tells stories of the haunted holiday.

Before you get started making your own, gather your family to watch this video and learn more about the eerie legend of the Pumpkin Tree!

Happy Halloween!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Piloting New Approach to Virtual Queue for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

It’s clear the Force is strong with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since its debut last year, this spectacular experience inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has proven to be one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World Resort

To better help guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios plan ahead for their day at the park, we’re piloting a new approach to the virtual queue system for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Starting Nov. 3, 2020, here’s how it will work:

  • Guests with a valid ticket or annual pass and a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be able to access the virtual queue system and check for an available boarding group starting at 7 a.m. on the day of their park reservation. This can be done before you leave your Disney resort hotel, or wherever else nearby you might be at that time.
  • Just as we do today, the virtual queue will reopen daily at 2 p.m. for anyone who wasn’t already able to join a boarding group earlier in the day. Note: Guests must be inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios to access this second virtual queue opportunity, and access to a boarding group is subject to availability and not guaranteed.

This new approach will make a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios more enjoyable and relaxing, as guests no longer need to be inside the park each morning to request a boarding group for the first virtual queue opportunity. As a reminder, you need to be inside the park to request the 2 p.m. boarding groups.

To try to maximize the number of boarding groups we’re able to accommodate while adhering to current health and safety guidelines, we recently added a clear barrier between the two rows of seats on each First Order Fleet Transport vehicle inside the attraction. This enables us to invite more guests to board Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance each day.

The attraction’s virtual queue is only accessible via the My Disney Experience mobile app. To maximize your opportunity to secure a boarding group, here are some tips we recommend you check off your list prior to your day at the park:

  • Register an account in My Disney Experience
  • Download the My Disney Experience mobile app on your smart device or ensure you’re using the most updated version of the app before you arrive at the park.
  • Link and assign all park tickets in your party to a My Disney Experience account
  • Have a valid Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the day you’re visiting
  • Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue for everyone in your group; if multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may complicate your ability to secure a boarding group
  • Remember, virtual queue boarding groups are limited and subject to availability

This new pilot approach to the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance virtual queue is designed to give guests the best possible experience during a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to a galaxy far, far away.
