Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online

Rumored: ‘Solo’ Series Coming to Disney+ After Trending Online. Over the last year the hashtag #MakeSolo2Happen has been spreading like wildfire online. Star Wars fans who protest the film while in theaters have seemly changed their minds about Solo: A Star Wars Story, since it has appeared on streaming services and released on DVD and Digital.

Since the films release, many fans have come out to say that the film was not as horrible as they imagined it to be. In fact, some are regretting missing the chance to see the film in theaters due to protesting the casting choices, over saturation of Star Wars films in theaters at the time, and for the lack of faith in the Star Wars franchise to tell a story about pre-existing characters.

So what does this mean for Solo: A Star Wars Story? The new found fandom has been pushing for a sequel and they have a great idea about how it should be done. Though the film performed poorly in theaters, it seems to be very popular on streaming services such as Netflix. With Disney launching their own streaming service this November called Disney+, fans believe a spin-off film or series is in order. Maybe with less attention on Han Solo, specifically, but incorporating other characters from the film in new adventures during the time before A New Hope.

Lucasfilm and Disney have been hard at work to bring an untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series to the streaming service that will take place between, Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, meaning there is a chance one of these characters could also appear in the new series, since the timelines could cross.

The studios are also working on a third season for The Mandalorian with season 2 scheduled to release in Oct 2020, untitled ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series and a ‘Cassian Andor’ series. Recent reports also indicate several new Star Wars projects are in the pipelines for Lucasfilm but details are being kept under wraps for now.

What are your thoughts on a Solo: A Star Wars Story spin-off? Do you love the idea or are you completely against it? What other Star Wars Stories would you like to see come to Disney+? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for all things Star Wars!

Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series

Josh Gad Hints at New Music from Alan Menken for ‘Gaston and LeFou’ Disney+ Series. Though Disney has yet to confirm the series, THR reported that Disney has ordered a 6-episode musical prequel series for Beauty and the Beast focused on the characters of Gaston and LeFou. The live-action film, released in 2017, grossed over $1 billion at the global box office and won over audiences world wide despite initial concerns over adapting the animated feature film into a live-action film.

Josh Gad recently shared a cryptic tweet with a photo of his performance as LeFou along with the caption: “This week I may or may not have hears a few new [Alan Menken] songs for something in the works and I may or may not be quaking with excitement.”

At the helm of the ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ prequel series are veteran Disney writers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. If those names sound familiar that’s because they are the writers for ABC’s hit television series Once Upon a Time. The pair has had a bit of experience writing Beauty and the Beast related content with that story being an integral part of the series and a major arc of redemption for the character Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle).

Both Josh Gad (LeFou) and Luke Evans (Gaston) are set to reprise their roles for the series, with rumors that Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince Adam) may appear in guest appearance roles. It is currently unknown if other cast members such as Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Kevin Klein (Maurice), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), and others will join the 6-episode series. Previously rumored to return is Oscar winning composer and Disney Legend Alan Menken, and it looks like Gad himself is confirming our suspicions that Menken will be composing the soundtrack for the series and it will incorporate musical numbers just like the live-action film.

THR reports that Kitsis, Horowitz, and Gad will be writing and producing the series for Disney+. No other details are available at this time. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co for all things Disney+!

New Hulu Update Will Closely Resemble Disney+ and ESPN+ Format

New Hulu Update Will Closely Resemble Disney+ and ESPN+ Format. Hulu is gearing up for a massive update that will closely model the interface format used on Disney+ and ESPN+. This comes as no surprise since the Disney owned streaming services are currently available to be bundled for $12.99/month and will allow subscribers to stream seamlessly between the three streaming services.

In a press release shared by Hulu, current and future subscribers were informed on what the updates will entail.

“With our growing audience, we’re constantly thinking about creating the best possible experience for our viewers, by getting them to the content they want to watch quickly while also helping them discover their next favorite movie or series to binge. We listened to feedback from our viewers and heard they loved how easy it was to continue watching the shows and movies they love, but not as easy to discover new content. That’s why today, we’re announcing some changes to our experience which will be available to some viewers on Roku and tvOS devices beginning today and roll out more broadly over the next few months.”

“Viewers can now navigate through collections vertically and explore within a collection by moving horizontally. This navigation pattern is something our viewers are accustomed to and matches the navigation pattern across Disney+ and ESPN+, making it easier for viewers who subscribe to the Disney bundle to switch between services and navigate with ease. When testing, viewers found it easy and intuitive to adjust to this updated navigation pattern.

We’re also simplifying navigation. Categories of content like TV, Movies, and Sports will be moved to the master navigation, which gives our viewers a clear pathway to find what they’re looking for. In the mood for a dramatic movie? This new navigation provides an easy way to navigate our vast library of content with fewer clicks than before.”

‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ May Resume Filming Very Soon

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ May Resume Filming Very Soon. Marvel Fans have been waiting to hear news about the future of the MCU and when filming will resume for several big name projects currently on hiatus after the shutdown of studios due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Well Marvel fanatics, looks like filming will resume very soon!

One of the rumored cast members for the Shang-Chi film potentially leaked the restart of filming in Australia with a photo on Instagram and the caption, “Guess who’s back. Quarantine look after 10 weeks of isolating myself. Hope y’all are safe, time to get back to normal.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Shang-Chi. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Producer Roy Lee shared there is relief at Marvel Studios regarding production concerns after it was learned a vaccine for COVID-19 would not be required in order for filming to resume.

“Initially, when the shutdowns began, I feared that we would have to wait for a vaccine to be developed before any production would be back up and running. But now I’m optimistic that there will be a plan in place to allow for smaller-scale productions to start before a vaccine is developed,” Lee speculated. “I believe that it will be one of the first studio productions that will start once we figure out the proper protocols that will ensure that the cast and crew are as safe, if not more, during production than they would have been pre-pandemic.”
