Ahoy, mateys! I’m Heather, and I’ll be bringing you the up and coming on all things Disney Cruise Line. Welcome back again this week. Let’s see what’s new in the DCL world!
What’s New
Hey, it’s been a month since the last round of cruise cancellations! Goodness knows that the return to cruising is up in the air, but I know many people are optimistically looking forward to a possible return before the end of the year. There was some really interesting discussion at a recent Galveston Board of Trustees meeting. The port director spoke in detail with DCL about potential plans for when cruising returns. The two biggest takeaways were not terribly surprising. First, they are planning to limit the number of passengers in the terminal at any given time – so say goodbye to the unwritten flexibility in those Port Arrival Times. Secondly, keeping with the theme of limiting numbers, the expectation is cruising will resume with caps on the number of passengers on board. The “magic” number thrown out was 70%. For the Magic/Wonder, that would be around 1,890 passengers, and for the Dream/Fantasy we’re looking at about 2,800.
For me, and I’m guessing many of you as well, when it comes to crowds less is ALWAYS more. So let’s say that magic number of 70% capacity is the goal – would that be more or less likely to encourage you to sail? Is that number too low? Too high? Just right? Let me know what you think in the comments!
