Hamilton has made its way to Disney+ (and our holiday weekend plans are to eat some pie and watch the musical on repeat).
Although July 4th is a holiday to celebrate, it’s also a great time to give back to communities who have been affected by our current situation. And, a few Disney affiliates are teaming together to provide a HUGE donation to those in need!
Coca-Cola has collaborated with Hamilton‘s creator Lin-Manual Miranda and the World Central Kitchen Founder (and Jaleo‘s creator in Disney Springs) José Andrés to donate $1 million to the World Central Kitchen.
The donation will help fight food insecurity around the world, especially in communities who have been disproportionately affected by the global health crisis and social injustice. World Central Kitchen will be able to serve 100,000 meals in the United States and Mexico (and other countries in the works), help about 150 local restaurants, and rehire up to 1,400 employees.
You can read more about Coca-Cola’s donation here and watch Lin-Manuel Miranda and José Andrés talk about the World Central Kitchen below!
We’re proud to see such an amazing donation given to people who need it the most! If that isn’t a way to celebrate our country, we don’t know what is!
What are you doing this Fourth of July? Let us know in the comments below!
