Let’s Grab a Slice! Pizza Ponte Has Reopened in Disney World

Disney Springs is back OPEN with places to shop and spots to grab a bite.

Pizza Ponte

While Disney-owned locations won’t be opening until May 27th, there are still SO many restaurants and stores that will be greeting guests again. Today, we’re making our way over to the newly-reopened Pizza Ponte to see how they’re handling the changes.

Pizza Ponte is one of the Pantina Restaurant Group locations reopening (you can see the rest of them here!) to guests in Disney Springs. Currently, the restaurant will be open from 12PM to 8PM with limited menu options. But, these hours are always subject to change!

Pizza Ponte

Patina recently stated that they would be instituting a Dine Safe: Commitment to Care program in order to make sure that health concerns and risks are minimized during operation and the hygiene protocols are at the CDC standard or above.

The Dine Safe Plan stated that the dining room would have the following requirements: face coverings for guests except while eating or drinking, redesigned table layout to allow distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols, the addition of hand-sanitizing stations, controlled access through designated entrances and exits, and single-use menus.

Dine Safe Certifications and Hand Sanitizer

When we arrived at Pizza Ponte, there were clearly marked entrances and exits for guests to use so the restaurant could control its flow of traffic.

The spot encouraged the use of a QR code menu to reduce contact points with other guests. They had the menu posted as well.

The floor had plenty of clear markings reminding guests to physically distance.

Pizza Ponte has changed its seating lay-out to separate tables to comply with its new procedures as well.

As a part of the Dine Safe program, the Patina restaurant employees will be undergoing health checks when they get to work, sanitizing their hands when they arrive and continue to wash and sanitize their hands every 20 minutes of their shift, wearing masks while they’re at Pizza Ponte, and taking part in a comprehensive training program.

Pizza Ponte

At this time, Pizza Ponte is taking cashless payments only. There was hand sanitizer available at the register too!

Pizza Ponte

We thought that Pizza Ponte upheld the standards that both Disney Springs and the Patina Restaurant Group set in place to keep guests and employees safe. Stay tuned with Disney Food Blog as we explore a reopened Disney Springs for the next few weeks!

Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Chocolate Chip Shake Recipe

101 Dalmatians Shake

Looking a fun Disney inspired dessert to make for a family movie night? Today, we’ll tell you how to make a frosty treat based on Disney’s 101 Dalmatians! The 101 Dalmatians Chocolate Chip Shake is simple to make. Below are the detailed steps:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Red and blue sprinkles
  • 3-4 scoops chocolate chip ice cream
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Whipped cream
  • Mini chocolate chips

Kitchen Items

  • Milkshake glasses
  • Blender
  • Polka-dot straws
  • Yellow paper
  • Scissors
  • Colored pencil or pen

Directions

  1. Put the white chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl. Then microwave for 10 seconds at a time until it’s melted. We recommend stirring frequently to ensure it has consistency.

  2. Add the red and blue sprinkles into separate bowls and set aside.

  3. Next, dip top of milkshake glasses into melted white chocolate. Twist glasses to cover evenly, and allow excess chocolate to drip back into bowl.

  4. Quickly dip chocolate-covered milkshake glass into red or blue sprinkles to cover evenly.

  5. Put the milkshake glasses in freezer to set. Do so immediately after the last step.

  6. Place 3-4 scoops of ice cream into blender. Add milk and blend.

  7. Pour the shake into the glass. Add whipped cream and top with chocolate chips.

  8. To make the puppy name tag, cut out a circle from yellow paper and add your favorite Dalmatian pup name. Attach to glass under the sprinkles.

We hope you try this 101 Dalmatians Chocolate Chip Shake recipe at home for a fun treat when you watch 101 Dalmatians with your family!

Newly Remodeled McDonald’s At Walt Disney World Nears Completion

McDonald's At Walt Disney WorldThe newly remodeled McDonald’s at Walt Disney World looks to be nearing completion. We recently took a drive near the fast-food restaurant that’s located near the All-Star Resorts and Animal Kingdom and we’re surprised by its progress. The Walt Disney World Resort has been closed since March with Disney Springs just recently opening back up but it looks like the remodel here has continued.

Newly Remodeled McDonald’s At Walt Disney World Nears Completion

This McDonald’s seems to have a modern design. There are loads of solar panels on the roof and out front and some greenery going up the building. It also appears to be much larger which will definitely help considering its popularity and convenient location.

There’s no announced opening date but it would be amazing if it was ready for guests to be welcomed back when the resorts reopen.

Missing Disney? Try this Dole Whip Drink from Taco Bell!

taco bell

While the Disney theme parks and resorts are closed, we are looking for any way to bring a taste of Disney home. If you are a big Dole Whip fan, head over to Taco Bell! They have a new Freeze flavor that just might hit the spot.

The Pineapple Whip Freeze at Taco Bell is no Dole Whip but it’s the next best thing! I grabbed one with my lunch the other day and it was quite tasty and refreshing. It’s almost more of a pineapple creamsicle flavor. Definitely worth trying as the weather heats up!

The Polite Pig: Small Safety Changes, Same Great Food

polite pig reopening

Many restaurants are beginning the reopening phases at Disney Springs.  Obviously the reopening brings some changes to dining.  We checked out Polite Pig to see how dining may be a little different.

First, expect queues to maybe be out the door.  This is because they are distancing travel parties by 6ft.  We were at this point in the line and it probably only took us 10-15 minutes.

On the window, which you pass as you’re waiting, there is a QR code to scan for the menu. They also had paper menus but were not handing them out unless requested from a patron.

The staff cheerfully greeted us with their Polite Pig masks on!

Once inside, dots were placed on the floor which clearly marked where your party should stand.  We noticed they were much further than 6 feet from the person in front of us but realized they wanted us to be spaced 6 feet away in all directions as much as possible.

Then it was time to order!  From the first picture, you can see the employees at the register were behind plexiglass. That honestly was the only real difference here.  They seemed to offer the full menu which we were happy about.

We chose the pulled pork shoulder accompanied by barbeque cauliflower, coleslaw, and cornbread.  Then, of course, had to pick red velvet cake for dessert (because there were no Gideon’s cookies).  They did not have the sauce bar open but you could easily request for sauces from a waiter. You can, obviously, remove your masks when seated at your table with your travel party.

Tables were spaced out a lot more than usual but they did add some additional outdoor tables.  Many employees were working so I didn’t feel like I needed to get up for anything.  Also, staff members were cleaning and sanitizing tables swiftly after each party left.

These signs were also posted around the store just reminding of the new policies.  Mobile ordering is a good option as well.

Overall, we had a great experience at The Polite Pig.  It was so delicious and the employees were wonderful.  So cheerful and willing to help!  It was so nice to feel a sense of normal while dining.

The air conditioning and opportunity to not wear your mask for awhile are two reasons why I recommend dining at one of the open establishments if you plan on staying at Disney Springs for more than a couple hours.

Thank you Polite Pig for an amazing first meal back at Disney Springs!
