Do I Have to Wear a Mask When Taking a Photo in Disney World? Here’s What We Experienced Today.

Wow. We really spent the day back in Magic Kingdom. It’s crazy to think about!

Do I Have to Wear a Mask When Taking a Photo in Disney World? Here’s What We Experienced Today.

Magic Kingdom

Of course, there is a LOT that’s different in a reopened Magic Kingdom and we took a good look around today at the Cast Member preview (thanks to an invite from some friends!). Even the way you take your picture with Cinderella Castle has changed! Yep, let’s take a look at everything different about snapping that iconic pic and pics in general!

Keep in mind that this is a Cast Member preview so everything is subject to change. We’ll be reporting in throughout the rest of the week so follow along with DFB for the most up-to-date information.

The Castle looks different.

First of all, you might have heard that the Castle looks preeeetty different. This iconic structure is getting totally glammed-up ahead of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary with new golden hues, royal blues, and a soft pink color!

Cinderella Castle

Keep in mind that the refurbishment on the Castle isn’t quite finished, so there were still cranes up with workers painting today. Depending on how much longer they’re working, this might be a factor when you’re taking your Castle pics.

Cinderella Castle

One thing is for sure — your Cinderella Castle pictures are going to look pretty different than they did before! Hopefully, your outfit doesn’t clash with that pretty pink!

You’ll have to wear your mask.

Beyond that, you might have to wear your mask in pictures. After chatting with a PhotoPass Cast Member, we were informed that face coverings are required at all times in the Disney parks and that includes during your Castle photoshoot for the time being. Now, this may change as the parks reopen to guests but it’s definitely a possibility.

Magic Kingdom Mask

Just in case you do need to keep your mask on for a photo, wear a cute one and practice smiling with your eyes so you’re happy with your pic when you take it. You could even get one with a character’s smile on it or one of our AWESOME DFB face masks to help turn it into a totally Disney-rific accessory.

PhotoPass photographers have new protocols.

Finally, if you enlist a PhotoPass photographer to help you snag the perfect Castle pic, there are going to be some changes to the protocol. For one, photographers will no longer be able to handle your personal device, so if you want them to snap a pic for you you’re going to need to get it THROUGH the PhotoPass service. Or you can always as a friend/member of your group to take one for you.

Main Street

They’ll also keep their distance as much as possible during your interaction. They’ll still use your MagicBand or Card to link photos to your account, but they’ll do it as quickly and as distanced as possible.

So there you have it! Now you can keep these three changes in mind when you’re heading to Magic Kingdom to snap that perfect Cinderella Castle picture. Follow along with DFB for all of the latest reopening updates from IN the parks!

What do you think of Cinderella Castle’s new pink look? Tell us in the comments!

See All of the Splash Mountain Merchandise Available (For Now…) in Magic Kingdom

We are LIVE in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom today ahead of the park’s upcoming reopening to guests on Saturday, July 11th.

Splash Mountain

We are here thanks to a friend who brought us along for today’s Cast Member preview. So far, we’ve visited Happy Haunts in the Haunted Mansion, seen some old friends, and taken a splash on Splash Mountain. Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with the latest news about Splash Mountain, then you know the attraction will be closing to be reimagined with a full re-themeing inspired by The Princess and the Frog.

So, not only were the lines to ride Splash Mountain longer than those at other attractions we’ve ridden today… the nearby Briar Patch — the ride’s accompanying gift shop — was experiencing some lines all its own as fans were hoping to get some commemorative Splash Mountain merchandise!

Let’s take a look…

A small selection of t-shirts and hoodies can still be found.

And, as of this morning, there was still some plush available…

Frames for your PhotoPass picture to remember your BIG SPLASH on Splash are available, too.

You can also find the Splash Mountain Mickey Ear Hat ornament.

The Park Pal that we recently spotted in Disney Springs is here at the Patch, too.

And for all our fellow mug collectors… “Today’s Forecast” features a “High Chance of Showers…”

We can vouch for that!

Now, as far as getting the merchandise… guest are directed to line up outside of the store, so you can’t just stop in after riding the attraction. Once inside, you’ll notice things like distancing markers on the ground, and plexiglass installed in front of the registers.

The Briar Patch

A manager informed us that items are going fast (and we noticed in particular that folks were really going for the plush).

But there is no limit as to how much guests may purchase… at least not now. We’ll be keeping you posted on all the goings on around Magic Kingdom today and again later this week as Walt Disney World prepares to welcome guests again to the parks this weekend!

Here’s What It’s Like to Ride the Monorail in a Reopened Disney World!

This is a big week for Disney fans as Walt Disney World is preparing for its phased reopening of the Resort’s four theme parks which begins this Saturday, July 11th with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, followed by EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on July 15th.

Here’s What It’s Like to Ride the Monorail in a Reopened Disney World!

Monorail

One big topic we’ve been exploring is what getting around the property will look like. We’ve taken a look at buses with the recent reopening of select Resort hotels, but what will it be like to ride the Disney Skyliner, the boats, and (of course) the Monorail? Well, we took our first cruise on a reopened Monorail today (with thanks to a friend who invited us to a Cast Member preview which is currently taking place) and we’re here to tell you what it was like!

We took the Monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom. The Transportation and Ticket Center (or TTC, for short) serves to offer parking for Magic Kingdom guests in addition to transportation options to the park itself. (The picture below, just for reference, was taken during a previous visit.)

Here’s What It’s Like to Ride the Monorail in a Reopened Disney World!

Monorail Station at Walt Disney World Ticket and Transportation Center

It’s worth noting that the Tram vehicles — which guests can ride from the parking lots to the TTC in order to shorten the walk — were not in operation this morning. However, we’d like to remind that today is a cast member preview, so things may work differently when the parks officially reopen. (P.S. Ferry Boat transportation was also available.)

Approaching the Monorail station, numbers are placed on the ground, giving guests the ability to easily spot where they may stand in order to keep a safe distance from other groups. (We’d like to thank @aleyafromdisney on Instagram for sharing the picture below with us!)

Physical Distancing Stickers

Number signage is also put in use as guests await the arrival of the next Monorail to carry them along the “Highway in the Sky” that leads to the Magic Kingdom.

Monorail stickers

A cast member gave us a number to stand on prior to boarding, which helped not only with traffic flow but also with the ultimate purpose of dispersing guests — keeping appropriate distancing in mind — throughout the cars themselves.

Cars are now split with physical distancing barriers, and our car was limited to us and one other party of four.

Here’s What It’s Like to Ride the Monorail in a Reopened Disney World!

Overall, it was nice to ride along the “Highway in the Sky” once more. We’d like to state again that, because today was a Cast Member preview, things may change when Magic Kingdom reopens to guests this weekend. So be sure to stay tuned to DFB this week for all of the HUGE new Disney World updates!

While we’re packing our trekking bags to head back into the parks, we’ve been looking at a sneak peek of Animal Kingdom’s new bag check area and temperature screening tents. And, now we have first look inside the park too!

The President of the Walt Disney World Resort Jeff Vahle has released photos of what the health and safety measures look like in Disney’s Animal Kingdom (wow, we missed seeing all that greenery).

Everyone will be asked to wear face masks during their time in the parks to make sure that people are kept healthy and safe when they are in the parks.

And, then we’ll be heading back to Disney World for the start of the grand re-openings. Check back for full coverage of Disney World’s big reopening.

REVIEW! THIS Treat is the Surprising WINNER of All the Fourth of July Treats We’ve Had in Disney World!

We’ve taken with you us all day to the Disney Resorts to find Fourth of July treats all over Disney World!

REVIEW! THIS Treat is the Surprising WINNER of All the Fourth of July Treats We’ve Had in Disney World!

Beach Club

While we’ve stopped by Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we’re at our last stop of the day at Disney’s Beach Club Resort!

Although this treat might be last of the day, it’s definitely not least. The Red White and Blueberry Trifle is layered with berry compote, vanilla cake, shortbread crumble, cherry mousse, whipped cream, and sprinkles.

Red White and Blueberry Trifle

We’re gonna be honest here — looks can be deceiving. We did NOT think much of this trifle when we first saw it and almost walked right past it! Disney is a big fan of verrines (AKA trifles) and we frequently see them appearing in their home base of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While this Beach Club dessert is called a “trifle,” it’s much more similar to a verrine. But, we’re not complaining!

Red White and Blueberry Trifle

The Red White and Blueberry Trifle has a bit of a crunch from the shortbread crumbles, even though the rest of the treat is nice and smooth. Although a lot of the berry, cherry, and whipped cream flavors are sweet, there’s a hint of tartness from some of the lemon juice mixed into the trifle.

Red White and Blueberry Trifle

If you’re craving a more traditional treat, the Beach Club Resort also has a Fourth of July Cupcake and a Welcome Back Funfetti Cupcake too! However, the Welcome Back Cupcake sold out pretty quickly, so we’ll have to check back to give you a look and review.

REVIEW! THIS Treat is the Surprising WINNER of All the Fourth of July Treats We’ve Had in Disney World!

Fourth of July Cupcake

While our hearts will belong to the patriotic Peanut Butter Pie that we had today (we just can’t get enough of it), we were surprised to find that the Red White and Blueberry Trifle happened to be our other favorite Fourth of July treat for only $5! It’s one of the least aggressively-sweet treats we tried. The balance of citrus, berry, and sweet flavors were refreshing compared to the other chocolate or sugary buttercream flavors we’ve had all day long. On that festive note, we wish you a Happy Fourth of July however you spend it!

How are you celebrating the Fourth of July today? Let us know in the comments below!
