This Great TIP Could Be The Key To Getting Your Disney World Theme Park Reservations Early!

Today was a HUGE day. On top of the Disney World Resorts re-opening, the Disney Park Pass system went live for the first time.

Disney’s Riviera Resort

However, there’s a lot to keep in mind when it comes to the resorts and the new theme park reservation system.

This week, the Disney Park Pass reservations are only opening up to resort guests with tickets (June 22), Annual Passholders (June 26), and regular ticket holders without resort hotel bookings (June 28). While new tickets and passes aren’t being sold, new Disney Resort reservations also aren’t available either (bummer).

Although you may really miss chilling on your balcony at the Contemporary, Disney made these limitations as a way of prioritizing guests who have existing reservations, tickets, and passes since Disney will need to limit access to the parks due to CDC guidelines, and they’re making sure guests with existing reservations get the first crack at the park pass system.

So what if you have a regular Disney World ticket, but no valid resort hotel, and you want to grab your reservations BEFORE the June 28th free-for-all (after all, we’re already starting to see opening days sell out!)? Well, if you get a valid hotel reservation before the 28th, then you’ll be able to book your park passes before they’re open to all ticket-holders.

But the issue is: Disney has halted resort hotel bookings for the time being. HOWEVER, there are several non-Disney-owned hotels that also offer the early park pass booking perk!

Beach Club Resort in Disney World

On top of the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Shades of Green Resorts, and Four Seasons Orlando Resort, Disney has direct connections to multiple applicable Good Neighbor and surrounding area resorts. Many of them will provide many of the same perks that the Disney Resorts do and give you access to Disney World privileges that on-property resort guests receive.

Swan and Dolphin Resort

One of the privileges includes the ability to have primary access to the Disney Park Pass system with an existing hotel reservation. And, some of the resorts are allowing guests to book new stays for the future, so if you already have your tickets but don’t want to wait until the 28th to book your park passes, you might even be able to score Disney Park Pass spots EARLY after making a reservation at one of the hotels in the area. (Thanks to @themeparkmillennial for reminding us of this awesome tip!)

Four Seasons Resort Orlando

However, keep in mind that it may take up to 72 hours before your resort reservation can be linked into My Disney Experience, so in order to book BEFORE other ticketed guests on the 28th, be sure to book your applicable good neighbor hotel quickly. You’ll need to check with individual resorts to confirm the ability to use Disney Park Pass early before trying to book park reservations with an existing stay or making a new stay.

Some of the Bonnet Creek Resorts and Disney Springs Area Resorts listed here may have availability:

  • Hilton
  • Waldorf Astoria
  • B Resort & Spa
  • Best Western (note that this hotel appears to be not accepting new bookings at this time)
  • DoubleTree Suites
  • Holiday Inn
  • Wyndham and Wyndham Garden

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

This can be a BIG DEAL for the guests wanting to visit the parks as soon as possible, especially since Disney hasn’t stated when new reservations will be able to be booked on property. While it may not work for every Good Neighbor and surrounding resort, we definitely recommend looking into the possibility that your existing stay (or maybe even a new one) could be eligible to book Disney Park Pass reservations ASAP.

Staying at a Good Neighbor Hotel at Walt Disney World? You’ll Want to Keep THIS in Mind!

The Disney Park Pass Reservation system will be going live tomorrow on June 22nd at 7 AM EST!

Flower and Garden Festival

While a number of Disney-owned hotels prepare ready to welcome resort guests back that same day, many guests are looking forward to the moment they are able to step back into the Disney World parks. In order to reduce its capacity, Disney has released its new theme park reservation system as a way to limit the amount of guests in a park at a time.

There will be a limited amount of reservations available for parks when they re-open, and guests will not be able to park-hop. The Disney Park Pass reservations will first be made accessible to guests who have an upcoming stay at the Disney Resorts.

Magic Kingdom

Disney has also announced that Good Neighbor hotels, like the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, Shades of Green Resort, and others will have the same access to the Disney Park Pass system just like other Disney-owned Resort guests.

Good Neighbor Hotels Information

However, as everyone gets ready to start making their plans tomorrow (Magic Kingdom, here we come!!), we thought it was important to note some of the restrictions surrounding the hotels. According to the Good Neighbor hotels’ websites, they have stated that it may take up to 72 hours to be able to access the Disney Park Pass system and link reservations.

Although it’s unclear at this time how each resort will be handling these reservations, resort guests will still have priority access to the Disney Park Pass system. Annual Passholders without a hotel reservation will not be able to make reservations until June 26th with regular ticket holders following afterwards on June 28th.

So if you’re looking to book a stay at one of these Good Neighbor hotels, keep in mind that you need to give it at least 72 hours in the system before you’ll be able to make those Park Pass ressies! We will continue to give you more details on the Disney Park Pass system as we learn them. And, we will provide you with a first look at the process tomorrow when the system goes live!

Here’s What You NEED to Know About Making a Disney World Park Pass Reservation for Your Entire Party!

It has been a WEEK in Disney World news!

Here’s What You NEED to Know About Making a Disney World Park Pass Reservation for Your Entire Party!

Food and Wine Festival 2019

We’ve shared some wild stuff recently, like the brand new version of Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival that debuts July 15th, the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (still crying a little bit), and the announcement for ALL the rides and entertainment re-opening in the parks.

Sounds like a lot, right? Well, Disney has ALSO released information on the Disney Park Pass, which is Disney World’s new mandatory theme park reservation system. The system will go live TOMORROW, June 22nd, at 7 AM EST for guests with existing hotel reservations and valid theme park entry to schedule their visits to the parks.

Cinderella Castle

Although we’ve given you a step-by-step tutorial on how to make reservations through Disney Park Pass, things can be a little bit confusing since there are so many different situations to consider. And, our number one priority here at DFB is to help you with your vacation and planning needs (and keep you up to date on all the Disney news!).

China Pavilion

We’ve been seeing a lot of confusion over how regular ticket holders and Annual Passholders would be able to make reservations together. Since Annual Passholders will only be able to make 3 park reservations at a time starting June 26th and regular ticket holders can make reservations on June 28th, your Disney plans are probably going to see some major changes.

Here’s What You NEED to Know About Making a Disney World Park Pass Reservation for Your Entire Party!

Walt Disney World Annual Passholder

At this time, we understand that Passholders with a hotel reservation should be allowed to book for the length of their hotel stay, but if your party has both Annual Passholders and regular ticket holders, you may need to make two different park reservations at this time. Disney has stated that all guests must have valid park ticketing, but your type of admission may prevent you from making a certain amount of reservations.

If you have a hotel reservation, but multiple kinds of tickets within your party, you’ll still be able to book together as a group due to your hotel stay. But if, for example, you have a local friend looking to visit with you for the day, even if you’re synced in My Disney Experience, they may need to book their Park Pass separately. Keep in mind that this can always change.

How Will the NBA Keep Its Players Safe at Disney World? Here’s What Officials Have to Say.

It’s official, folks! The NBA is coming to Disney World!

How Will the NBA Keep Its Players Safe at Disney World? Here’s What Officials Have to Say.

NBA Experience

While we’ve already found out where the teams will likely be housed on Disney property and what amenities they should be able to experience, there have still been some discussions over what the safest ways to conduct the NBA’s season are currently.

According to the ESPN, the NBA will still be holding its season in Walt Disney World, despite the recently expressed concerns from the association. Since Florida has had a skyrocketing number of cases recently, NBA officials have worried about bringing the 22 teams to Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.

However, NBA commissioner Adam Silver expressed his confidence in the “NBA’s bubble concept” during a virtual meeting with the players and officials. During this meeting, there were concerns expressed about how the hotel housekeepers and custodians may not have to undergo COVID-19 testing, even though they will be in the areas NBA players will be staying on Disney property.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass has also stated that they are “closely monitoring the data in Florida and Orange County and will continue to work collaboratively with the National Basketball Players Association, public health officials and medical experts regarding our plans.”

NBA Experience

The league recently sent out a detailed guide about what precautions would be taken, including specific staff at NBA hotels, once-a-week room housekeeping without the players and staff present, the use of personal protective equipment and distancing measures from the Disney Cast Members, and non-Disney team bus drivers who will be subjected to testing.

NBPA executive director Michele Roberts has also noted “that access to the campus is severely limited” and that they will implement more health and safety measures and restrictions if they are deemed necessary. The NBA teams will begin playing their season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on July 31st. Since this is an evolving situation, we will continue to keep you updated!

NEWS: Afternoon Tea, Jiko Wine Tasting, Dessert Parties, and MORE Will Not Be Available When Walt Disney World Reopens

ICYMI, yesterday delivered a LOT of news about special events at Walt Disney World Resort.

NEWS: Afternoon Tea, Jiko Wine Tasting, Dessert Parties, and MORE Will Not Be Available When Walt Disney World Reopens

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

With decisions made to promote safety in light of the current global health situation, it was announced, for instance, that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been canceled for the fall. The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, however, will return — and SOON! (You can read all about it here.)

Of course, these are just two examples of Special Events and unique experiences that are typically available to guests, either as seasonal offerings or year-round enhancements.

NEWS: Afternoon Tea, Jiko Wine Tasting, Dessert Parties, and MORE Will Not Be Available When Walt Disney World Reopens

Afternoon Tea at The Grand Floridian

And — even though we have known for some time that experiences will be modified, with many not offered upon the initial reopening of Walt Disney World — a full list of experiences that will NOT be available upon reopening has been added to the Walt Disney World website. Of course, standing reservations have been canceled for experiences, and the ability to book these experiences has been unavailable since. But we thought this specific list would be helpful for those currently in the planning stages.

Walt Disney World Dining Experiences

Offerings that will not be available include select special Dining Events — ranging from Afternoon Tea at The Grand Floridian to Jiko Wine Tasting and more (such as Dining Packages for select shows and spectaculars) — as listed below:

  • Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room
  • Cake Decorating Experience at Amorette’s Patisserie
  • Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night
  • Dine with an Animal Specialist
  • Dining with an Imagineer – Cítricos
  • Dining with an Imagineer – The Hollywood Brown Derby
  • Disney Early Morning Magic – Fantasyland
  • Epcot Forever Dining Package
  • Fantasmic! Dining Package
  • Festival of the Lion King Signature Dining Package
  • Highway in the Sky Dine Around
  • Jiko Wine Tasting
  • Rivers of Light Dining Package
  • Savor the Savanna: Evening Safari Experience
  • Sense of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Signature Celebration at Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • Taste of Magic Kingdom Park VIP Tour
  • Tiffins Talks
  • Victoria & Albert’s Chef’s Table Dinner
  • Wanyama Safari
  • Wonderland Tea Party at 1900 Park Fare

Walt Disney World Dessert Parties

Of course, we have also known that — upon the initial reopening — nighttime spectaculars and parades (essentially, in-park events which lend themselves to large group gatherings) will not be part of the park experience. This naturally affects the availability of Dessert Parties and Dining Packages, which are add-on offerings that include reserved viewing areas for these popular shows.

The Dessert Parties that will NOT be available upon reopening include:

  • Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience
  • Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise
  • Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace
  • Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing
  • Frozen Ever After Dessert Party
  • Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage
  • Rivers of Light Dessert Party
  • Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As a reminder, Disney has already stated that previously booked experiences that are affected by cancellations will be refunded, and you can read about that here.

We will be taking a look today at additional experiences that will not be available upon the reopening of Walt Disney World, which includes select Tours, Nature Experiences, and more.

In the meantime, to learn more about the upcoming reopening of Walt Disney World Resort — which begins with select Disney Resort hotels on June 22nd, followed by the theme parks starting with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11th and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on July 15th — you can visit any of the links below.

What do you think of these modifications? Please let us know with a comment.
