Complete List of Reopening Details for Disneyland When it Opens Next Month

Complete List of Reopening Details for Disneyland When it Opens Next Month

The Disneyland Resort is still closed but pending government approval, the parks will reopen next month! Let’s go over all of the reopening details for Disneyland you’ll want to know.

The Downtown Disney District will begin opening on July 9. Pending government approval, both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will reopen July 17. And Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen July 23.

Upon reopening, certain Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or even closure based on guidance from health experts and government officials.

Certain attractions, experiences, services, and amenities will be modified, have limited availability, or remain closed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.

Disney’s focus remains on the health and safety of all guests and Cast Members. When the resort reopens there will be enhanced health and safety measures in place which include:

  • Enhanced Protective Measures: Face coverings for both Cast Members and Guests will be required, with the addition of hand-washing stations and physical barriers, where appropriate.
  • Physical Distancing: Theme park capacity will be reduced to enable physical distancing and appropriate signs will be added to help Guests move responsibly throughout the property.
  • Temperature Checks: All Guests will undergo temperature screenings prior to entering the Downtown Disney District or the theme parks; in addition, health screenings and temperature checks will be required daily for Cast Members.
  • Limited-Contact Enhancements: Cashless transactions are recommended and Cast Member and Guest interactions will be reduced with helpful technology, including the expansion of Mobile Order in the Disneyland app, Apple Pay and more.
  • Enhanced Cleaning and Sanitation: Disney will build upon its existing standards of cleaning with heightened protocols.

There will also be a new park reservation system in place when the parks reopen. The following updates will help promote physical distancing:

  • Park Reservations: Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, attendance will be managed through a new theme park reservation system that will require all Guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be subject to availability. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.
  • New Ticket Sales: At this time, Disney is also temporarily pausing new ticket sales and Annual Passport sales and renewals. Additional details will be provided soon.
  • Hotels of the Disneyland Resort: Pending governmental approval, Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests will once again enjoy being immersed in the magic when Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, and Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopen to Guests and members starting on July 23, 2020. The Disneyland Hotel will open at a later date. Plans to support physical distancing as well as increased cleaning measures, along with a number of other health and safety protocols, will be implemented as part of the phased reopening of the hotels and the Disney Vacation Club.

Additionally, select attractions and certain experiences that draw large group gatherings—such as parades and nighttime spectaculars—will return at a later date. While character meet-and-greets will be temporarily unavailable, Characters will be in the parks in new ways to entertain and delight Guests. The Disneyland Resort will also have capacity measures in place, as well as limitations on parking and operating hours.

Online Petition Calls on Disneyland to Delay Reopening

Online Petition Calls on Disneyland to Delay Reopening disneyland reservations

Right on the heels of an announcement from the Walt Disney Company that Disneyland California will be reopening, comes a petition from fans to delay the event. The park is still awaiting state approval for its July 17th plan, a date that coincides with Disneyland’s 65th anniversary, but some park-goers are uncomfortable with any date before new COVID-19 case numbers have dropped.

Online Petition Calls on Disneyland to Delay Reopening Disneyland ReOpening

The petition on change.org has gained more than 28,000 signatures as of Saturday and is gaining momentum. Signatures come from fans, Annual Passholders, and even some Cast Members who cite concerns over their own health and that of their family members.

The petition’s description states “As you know, Covid-19 cases are rising and have not dropped. Many people have lost loved ones due to this pandemic and by reopening the parks they are endangering cast members and guests to be exposed to Covid-19. There are more cases now than when the parks closed on March 13th, 2020. Health officials have stated that the 2nd wave of Covid-19 will be worse. So reopening before the 2nd wave even hits us is irresponsible and greedy.”

Walt Disney World is opening on July 11th, and representatives of both parks are claiming to have new safety measures to implement. Capacity will be severely limited at first, relying on a new reservation system for guests, masks will be required, and many live events such as parades, fireworks, and character meet-and-greets will be suspended; other guidelines have yet to be released.

It remains to be seen whether this petition will affect current plans. What do you think of Disneyland’s reopening plans? Is it too soon or right on time?

Disneyland is Sending Emails to Guests with Reservations Through July 22

Disneyland is Sending Emails to Guests with Reservations Through July 22

Disneyland Resort has announced a phased reopening of its theme parks next month. Pending state and local government approvals, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will plan to reopen on July 23. The Disneyland Hotel will open at a later date.

Guests with an upcoming Disneyland reservation from June 28-July 22, 2020 are receiving notifications that their stays will be impacted by the current closure and they may modify or cancel their Disney Resort hotel reservations or Walt Disney Travel Company packages.

Below is a sample of the email guests are receiving:

“Dear Guest:

We are sorry to inform you that your upcoming visit with us will be impacted by several closures.

While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our Guests and employees remain Disneyland Resort’s top priority.

Pending state and local government approvals, we currently plan to reopen Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel on July 23. The Disneyland Hotel will reopen at a later date.

Unfortunately, this means we are unable to accommodate your upcoming hotel room reservation. If you have already modified or canceled your upcoming Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package, no further action needs to be taken.

If you’re interested in modifying your existing travel dates, reservations are currently available for travel dates July 23, 2020 and later.

To provide additional flexibility, we are waiving Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through July 22, 2020.

If you are unable to reach us before your check-in date for such time period, you will not be penalized or assessed Disney-imposed fees for cancelling your Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package after your check-in date.

Note that some package components are nonrefundable and subject to third-party operator cancellation policies. You should work directly with any third-party operators you have used to book any parts of your vacation package that were not booked through the Walt Disney Travel Company, including flights, travel protection and car rentals.

To cancel or modify your reservation, please contact the Walt Disney Travel Company at (714) 520-5050 between the hours of 8:00 AM PST and 7:00 PM PST, 7 days a week. If you are a Canada resident, please call (800) 496-6337.

If you originally booked through a Travel Professional, please reach out to them directly if you have questions or would like to reschedule.

We do anticipate heavy call volume and appreciate your patience as we work hard to respond to all inquiries.

Sincerely,
Disney Destinations LLC”

If you have a Disneyland reservation and you booked through a third party, you will need to contact them to modify or cancel your reservation.

NEWS! Resort Hotel Booking is Currently Unavailable On the Disneyland Website

Earlier today, Disneyland Resort released a reopening proposal!

If the proposal is approved by state and local governments, Downtown Disney will open July 9, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will open July 17, and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel &  Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen July 23 (Disneyland Hotel will remain closed initially).

NOTE — This issue appears to be resolved. The Grand Californian and Paradise Pier are currently able to be booked on the Disneyland website.

When the news was released, Disneyland placed a temporary pause on new ticket sales, Annual Pass sales, and renewals. And now, it appears that hotel bookings are currently unavailable on the Disneyland website as well!

We noticed an error message on the page for Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa that indicates booking is currently unavailable. Even if we attempted to search for availability several months in the future, we were cycled back to this same page.

And we ran into the same situation when we checked Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

We were also unable to book Good Neighbor hotels on the Disneyland website, BUT we were still able to make reservations for Good Neighbor locations directly through those hotel’s websites. We’ll keep you posted on any new info as it’s released.

Have you stayed at any of the Disneyland Resort hotels? Let us know in the comments!
