Disneyland Update Offers Glimpse of Changes Once the Park Reopens

disneyland

The Disneyland website recently updated its Resort Operations page to show some of the changes that might happen once the parks reopen. As of today there still is no set reopening date for the resort but some clues were offered as to what we can expect when that does happen.

The site states:

“Upon reopening, certain Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, restaurants and other locations may be limited in capacity and subject to restricted availability or even closure based on guidance from health experts and government officials. Furthermore, certain attractions, experiences, services and amenities will be modified, have limited availability or remain closed. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.”

It wasn’t stated if guests will have their temperature checked and/or be required to wear face coverings while at the resort but seeing how Disney Springs is operating right now, we can bet those will be implemented at Disneyland as well.

No details about what rides or attractions might remain closed were offered. Disney said it will provide more information as it becomes available. Again, there’s no official word on when any part of the resort will reopen, but hotel reservations can be made for dates starting July 1st.

We will continue to update our readers as more information becomes available to us!

Here Are ALL of the Disney Locations Around The World That Are OPEN Right Now!

Much of Disney’s parks and resorts remain closed worldwide, but there are some places that are open to guests right now!

Alice in Wonderland Maze at Shanghai Disneyland

Around the globe, we are beginning to see Disney make gradual steps towards reopening some of their parks and resorts. Let’s take a look at each of the resorts and see exactly what is open and available for guests.

Shanghai Disneyland

The Shanghai Disney Resort closed its gates on January 25, the first of the Disney resorts to do so amidst the global health crisis. Since then, they have made the most progress amongst all of the Disney resorts when it comes to reopening.

Shanghai Disneyland

On Monday, May 11, Shanghai Disneyland park REOPENEDSigns pointed to an impending reopening soon after reports emerged of their fireworks show being tested as well as quiet testing of new safety protocols.

While the park has opened its gates for the first time in over 100 days, several entertainment offerings will not be available initially for guests.

Their shopping and dining district, Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, as well as the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, have been open since March 9

Shanghai Disneyland

The hotel’s character dining location, Lumiere’s Kitchen, resumed business operations, initially open for brunch and dinner on weekends.

Walt Disney World

There are a number of services currently available in Disney World, despite the parks being closed since March 16.

On May 20, Disney Springs began a phased reopening. During this initial phase of reopening, only a limited amount of third party retailers and restaurants were open, with limited capacity and hours.

Disney Springs

We have full coverage of opening day, including restaurant reviews and shopping updates.

On May 27, some Disney owned and operated retail locations, including World of Disney, will reopen.

World of Disney in Disney Springs

There are various health and safety protocols put in place during Disney Spring’s initial reopening phase. These include required face masks for both Guests and Cast Members, temperature screenings upon entering, increased sanitization, and physical distancing efforts.

Disney Springs

Several locations in Disney World have remained open throughout the duration of the park and resort closures. The golf courses have remained open (including FootGolf!). This does not include both of Disney World’s mini-golf courses.

The other following services at the resort are also open:

  • The Speedway gas station near Magic Kingdom is open from 5AM til 11PM daily.
  • The Best Friends Pet Care Center is open daily from 9AM til 5PM Monday-Saturday. Note that there are no overnight services at this time.

Hong Kong Disneyland

The Hong Kong Disney Resort closed shortly after Shanghai on January 26.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort

Since then, character dining has resumed at Enchanted Rose Garden in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel with limited character appearances.

Currently, all three Hong Kong Disney Resort hotels are accepting future bookings. The Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre is also currently open.

Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland

As of this writing, all of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Tokyo Disney Resort, and Disneyland Paris remain closed at this time. When the Tokyo Disney Resort first closed, it was announced that their hotels would remain open, but they have since closed. Currently, there is no timeline for any anticipated announcements regarding an opening for any of these three resorts.

We’ll keep you posted as news is released. And don’t forget to follow the Disney Food Blog newsletter for immediate news and updates!

NEWS: Disneyland Extends the Validity of Some Tickets Affected by the Closure

Disneyland has been closed for over two months, and there is still uncertainty about when a reopening date may be.

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Prior to the park closure, people had purchased park tickets that are going unused for the time being. In response, Disney initially extended reservation dates for many tickets. Now, with the closures continuing, it looks like some unused promotional tickets have gotten a significant expiration extension once more.

Three promotional tickets saw extensions — Southern California Resident Tickets, Child Tickets, and Canada Resident Tickets or Australia/New Zealand Resident Tickets.

Disneyland Website Screenshot

Southern California Resident Tickets

Previously, Southern California Resident Tickets were being extended day-by-day with the closure. Now, these tickets are extended for non-consecutive use through December 16th, 2021 with blockout days listed November 21st-28th, 2020; December 19th, 2020-January 10th, 2021; March 26th-April 11th; July 4th; and November 20th-27th, 2021.

Child Tickets

The Child Ticket was previously extended through December 15th, 2020 but has now been extended another full year through December 16th, 2021. This ticket will expire 13-days after first use and the same blockout dates apply.

Canada and New Zealand Resident Tickets

Finally, the Canada Resident Tickets and Australia/New Zealand Resident Tickets were through May 31st, 2021; and now also expire Dec 16th, 2021. The ticket also expires 13-days after first use. Blockout days are not listed.

Disneyland Main Entrance

The policies for unused single-day tickets and wholly unused multi-day tickets remain that they are valid for a future visit through the end of their validity period. At this time, the Military Salute Ticket offer is still set to expire on December 18th, 2020.

We’ll keep a close eye on the ticket policy for Disneyland and we’ll be sure to update as anything changes!

What are your thoughts on the Disneyland ticket extensions? Tell us in the comments!
