These are after-hours events where DVC members can ride attractions with shorter wait times, meet characters, indulge in complimentary snacks and drinks, and attend dance parties!

While the Disney World parks are set to reopen in July, some offerings and entertainment will be temporarily suspended. For example, the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events have been canceled this year.

And while we know there were a lot of technical difficulties with the Disney Park Pass reservation system yesterday, it seems like many folks have been successful in getting their needed reservations. So much so, we noticed that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has already filled up on July 14th!

Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are slated to reopen before the other two theme parks on July 11th.

But theme park reporter Scott Gustin is stating Disney has held back some spots and more reservations and will be released when Disney World’s Annual Passholders have access to the Disney Park Pass system on June 26th.

Disney has confirmed the above days/parks are booked for people with hotel reservations BUT additional spots will be released on Friday when APs are eligible to book.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot are scheduled to reopen July 15th, and so far reservations on July 15th, 16th, or 17th have filled up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well. But according to Scott, APs sould also have a chance to get park reservations for these dates that will be released on Friday.

News: Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance Reportedly Won’t Use Boarding Groups At Reopening

It’s been quite the day so far with exciting news coming out of Disney World. For those itching to get back to Galaxy’s Edge when Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopens in Disney World on July 15, they may be happy to know that many of the major attractions and shops will be open.

News: Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance Reportedly Won’t Use Boarding Groups At Reopening

And yep — the reopening list includes the fan favorite Rise of the Resistance! This attraction has been the must-ride choice since it opened in August of 2019.

But we’re also getting word of another MAJOR development that will change the way we’ve come to experience “getting in line” for this ride!

We just confirmed via the Disney World website chat system that Disney World will not use any virtual queues (i.e lines for rides that are managed digitally, so you “join” them from a smartphone app). This was a possibility we had discussed in the past, and we know now that it looks like only standby (regular, good ol’ ride lines) will be available for Disney World’s rides and attractions.

Further, reporter Scott Gustin confirmed that this mandate includes Rise of the Resistance.

NEW: Disney has told Cast Members there will be no virtual queues used for attractions when parks reopen. This includes Rise of the Resistance. Single rider lines will also not be utilized.

This information has not been posted online (yet) but Cast Members have been informed.

— Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) June 20, 2020

That’s right, as of right now (things change ALL the time, however) if you want to join forces with the Resistance and take on the First Order, it sounds like your ONLY option will be a traditional standby queue. In addition to no virtual queues, there will be no Single Rider lines at any attractions, and the entire FastPass+ system has been temporarily suspended for the time being).

News: Disney World’s Rise of the Resistance Reportedly Won’t Use Boarding Groups At Reopening

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Rise of the Resistance was a major development in virtual queueing for Disney World. When the attraction first opened, guests had to join a Boarding Group, assigned at random, via the My Disney Experience app on their smartphones.

Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups Sign

Due to the immense popularity of the ride, these Boarding Groups were snatched up FAST. And anyone who wanted to ride essentially needed to be INSIDE the park gates before the official opening time to have a chance at riding!

Hollywood Studios Before Park Opening Waiting to Get Boarding Groups for Rise of the Resistance

Now, it looks as though anyone in Disney’s Hollywood Studios each day will have an equal shot to ride via standby queue. But to get the best chance to ride without too long a queue, you’ll want to arrive as EARLY as possible! May the force be with you!

Have you been on Rise of the Resistance yet? What do you think of folks only being able to wait in a standby queue for this attraction? Let us know in the comments!

Club 33 and Golden Oaks Members Can Also Attend Disney World’s Early Previews!

Magic Kingdom
