California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions. At the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, filming for television and film ended on a moments notice and has just begun getting the all clear to resume around the world.

This week, the California Department of Public Health made a formal announcement stating: “Music, TV and film production may resume in California, recommended no sooner than June 12, 2020, and subject to approval by county public health officers within the jurisdictions of operations,” the department shared. “To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, productions, cast, crew and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by county public health officers.”

According to the report from LA Times, “On Monday, a task force of studios and union officials submitted a 22-page white paper to governors in California and New York; its proposed health and safety guidelines aim to protect workers and performers as production resumes. The paper calls for dramatic changes to what had previously been routine practices in the film and TV industry, which was booming before the pandemic because of the demand for content by multiple streaming services. The shutdown drew focus to long-standing problems with hygiene and sanitation on film sets, including a lack of hand-washing stations.”

It should be noted, some of our favorite upcoming titles are currently or scheduled to be filmed in various locations around the U.S. and the world, so this would only affect titles currently scheduled to film in the State of California. No formal announcement has been made for nationwide filming to resume. We do know that films such as the Avatar Sequels have resumed filming in New Zealand and Prague recently re-opened to international filming and will be one of the filming locations for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier coming to Disney+.

The #SaveDaredevil Campaign Has Fans Hoping for Reboot Once Character Rights Return to Marvel Studios

The #SaveDaredevil Campaign Has Fans Hoping for Reboot Once Character Rights Return to Marvel Studios. It’s been a year and half since Netflix and Marvel Entertainment called it quits on Marvel properties Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

According to The Defenders actor, Royce Johnson, Marvel never wanted to end the series run, and is still very interested in the franchises. Under the contract between Marvel and Netflix, Marvel Entertainment and parent company, Marvel Studios, would have to wait 18 months-2 years before releasing any new content with the characters from the cancelled franchises.

“I mean, talking to [Marvel TV president] Jeph Loeb, I read that the memo had said, ‘To be continued.’ There is a clause that I heard through rumor that we have to wait 18 months, up to two years. Will we get the same people? We don’t know that. I think they got together with a great team, I mean, with the writers, producers, editors, scorers, the stunt teams, everybody.”

“I mean, we couldn’t be more thankful with the crew we had, but it wasn’t a Marvel issue,” Johnson added to his comment. “Apparently, it was Netflix that said, ‘We’re not moving forward.’ For whatever reason. I mean, I know these shows are costly with the CGI, and stunt guys, and special effects, and stuff. And that costs money, and maybe Netflix felt that they [were not] gonna profit from it, and then this whole purge started, you know?”

This means it is very likely we will see a reappearance for these characters as early as September 2020 for Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and for Daredevil as early as November 2020.

At the time of the series cancellation, Marvel Fans created the #SaveDaredevil campaign to reboot the franchise, with the idea of having Daredevil pick up where it left off or potentially moving on to the MCU. A resurgence of the idea occurred after the posting of a 6-month reminder on the SaveDaredevil Instagram account.

With the idea of Daredevil returning to Marvel, fans were quick to share the likelihood of Daredevil making an appearance in the next Spider-Man film scheduled to release in summer 2021, but Daredevil actor, Charlie Cox said if Marvel is thinking of bringing the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it’s not with him.

“I hadn’t heard those rumors, but it’s certainly not with my Daredevil. I’m not involved in it. If that’s true, it’s not with me. It’s with another actor,” Cox shared while speaking with ComicBook.com.

Charlie had a great attitude about the whole situation though, and shared that he would still be interested in reprising his role if given the opportunity, regardless of when or how Marvel would want to present the character again. “Look, I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it,” the actor stated.

Would you love to see Matt Murdock/Daredevil return to a streaming service like Disney+? Or are you ready to see the Hell’s Kitchen lawyer make his film debut on the big screen? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Rumored: Hercules to Make First MCU Appearance in Upcoming Marvel Film

Hercules to Make First MCU Appearance in Upcoming Marvel Film. According to The Cinema Spot, another long standing Marvel hero is on the way! Hercules is rumored to make his first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance in Marvel Studios’ Eternals.

No, we are not talking about the Disney animated style Hercules we all know and love. This would be the Hercules featured in the Marvel Comics for nearly 60 years!

Hercules first Marvel appearance was in Avengers #10 in 1964. In the Marvel Comics, Hercules is the son of Zeus, king of the gods of Olympus, and Alcmena, a mortal woman who lived about three thousand years ago. Recognizing the need for a son who would be powerful enough to defend both the Olympian gods and humanity from future dangers he foresaw, Zeus seduced Alcmena in the guise of her husband, King Amphitryon of Troezen. Thanks to Zeus’s enchantment, Hercules was born with the potential for extraordinary strength, which he first displayed before he was even one year old by strangling two serpents which attacked him. As an adult, Hercules is best known for his celebrated Twelve Labors, which were performed in part to prove his worthiness for immortality to Zeus.

The character is frequently featured with other Olympian characters, Thor, The Avengers, as well as The Eternals, which means Hercules’ introduction in the new Eternals movie is the most natural choice for his first MCU appearance.

It is currently unknown if Hercules will play a major role in the film or if he will simply be introduced in a post credit scene. It is also rumored that Hercules may make his way to one of the new Marvel Disney+ series such as Loki or She-Hulk depending on the storylines for the shows.

Eternals is set to premiere in theaters on February 12, 2021. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Marvel!

Rumored: ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ to be Renamed for Season 2

Rumored: ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ to be Renamed for Season 2. Though The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been the least secretive when it comes to the content we will get to see in any of the new Marvel series coming to Disney+, it seems the series will see an unexpected split between The Falcon/Sam Wilson and The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barner. That is, according to Marvel scooper Charles Murphy from Murphy’s Law podcast.

“Coming out of season one, [Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson] are going to have gone through something traumatic and be different,” Murphy explained in a recent podcast. “There was definitely at one point a plan for a second season… If they did have season two, it wouldn’t be called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2, it would be a thematically related thing with a different name.”

The series already has Marvel fans excited for the premiere with the reappearance of Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) and the evil Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl). We will also be introduced to a new MCU character by the name of U.S. Agent/John Walker (Wyatt Russell).

“It’s going to be so cool and kind of crazy. All I can say is it’s just new and different from what you’ve seen so far,” Stan said of the series during a previous convention appearance. “I mean, it will be totally in line with everything that has happened and what we’ve seen and so on, but these characters are getting such additional mileage in terms of learning about who they are now, what they feel, what they’re thinking, and there’s a lot of action, comedy, you know there’s going to be comedy. I feel like you’re going to be happy. I think you’re going to be very happy. And there’s some crazy stuff, like stuff you don’t see coming from anywhere.”

The mystery revolving around the series is palpable, but to tease a split ending? Wow. Especially after it was announced the series would be filming reshoots after the initial storyline too closely resembled the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also rumored the series, along with WandaVision, will only premiere with the first half of the season in 2020. Likely due to production delays from the pandemic. If the series is picked up for a second season we could also see the creation of two new series following the heroes, or the possibility of one of the characters moving to a different Marvel series on Disney+.

We can’t wait for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to premiere later this year! Which Marvel series are you the most excited for? How do you think the series will end? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
