Walt Disney Family Museum offering virtual art exhibition

Walt Disney Family Museum offering virtual art exhibition Walt Disney Family Museum

The Walt Disney Family Museum is offering a special virtual exhibit for Disney fans staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The World of Tomorrow exhibit includes 175 unique pieces to be displayed in a virtual recreation of the museum’s Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall.

Readers can click here to see the virtual art exhibition. The official description for the museum’s virtual exhibit, The World of Tomorrow, can be found below:

“The Walt Disney Family Museum is excited to premiere The World of Tomorrow, a new virtual exhibition featuring works created by the museum’s global community. Inspired by each artists’ vision for a “world of tomorrow,” this diverse selection of works includes paintings, drawings, photographs, and 3D objects in a 3D-rendered virtual gallery space.

During our temporary closure, The Walt Disney Family Museum has continued to share Walt’s story across social media and virtual platforms. As part of the museum’s mission to enlighten and educate future generations, we strive to highlight the importance of growth through adversity, and how the adversity Walt faced shaped him to be one of the great innovators of the 20th century. The World of Tomorrow draws inspiration from Walt’s ambition to keep moving forward and design a brighter future.”

Make Snow White and the Seven Dwarves Donuts at Home

Snow White Donut

Everyone knows that if Snow White could have saved herself a lot of trouble if she’d had a donut instead of that apple. If you’d also like to stay on the safe side but make sure that your snack is the fairest of them all, then try making these ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” donuts!
This Disney recipe requires a donut pan and makes 12 baked rings of deliciousness. No need for wishing wells, they’re pretty easy to make!

Ingredients

DONUTS:

  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 Cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tsp baking powder
  • 2 Tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 Cup whole milk
  • 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 Cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • Donut pans
  • Piping or zip-top bag
  • Scissors
  • Toothpick

GLAZE:

  • 2 Cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp clear vanilla extract
  • 1/2 Cup heavy cream
  • Gel food coloring (red, blue, green, yellow, brown, beige)
  • Piping or zip-top bags
  • Toothpicks

DECORATION:

  • Melted dark chocolate
  • Shredded coconut
  • ROYAL ICING (HATS, APPLE STEM & LEAF):
  • 2 Cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp meringue powder
  • 1/4 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 Cup warm water
  • Gel food coloring (red, green, yellow, blue, brown, purple)
  • Piping or zip-top bags

DIRECTIONS:

  •  Preheat oven to 350° F.
  •  Spray the donut pans with non-stick cooking spray or coat with melted butter. Set the pans aside.
  •  In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.

  •  In a smaller bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, butter, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
  •  Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir together until all are combined and no flour clumps remain. Try not to overmix the batter!
  •  Pipe the batter into the donut cavities using a piping or zip-top bag. Cut a corner off the bottom and pipe the batter into each cavity, filling 3/4 of the way. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

  •  Remove donuts from the oven and allow to cool in the pan before inverting them onto a wire rack. (Tip: To help release the donuts, use a toothpick to loosen the sides.) While they’re cooling, make the glaze.
  •  In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. (If the glaze is too thick, add additional cream-about 1/2 teaspoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached).

  •  Divide the icing into 7 small bowls to make red, beige, brown, green, blue, yellow, and white (leave icing as is for white).

  •  Add food coloring into each bowl, corresponding to each of the character’s clothing. For Snow White and the Dwarfs, dip 1/3 of each into the beige icing for their faces. Then add on a nose with the same beige color, using a toothpick. Spread on the other colors for their clothes with the back of a small spoon.

  •  For the Dwarfs’ beards, pipe white icing then sprinkle shredded coconut on top.

  •  Using melted dark chocolate and a toothpick, draw the faces, belts, and Snow White’s hair.
  •  Make the royal icing: Add powdered sugar, meringue powder, vanilla extract, and water into the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment. Start mixing on low until incorporated and then beat on medium-high until stiff peaks form (around 5 minutes).
  •  Divide the icing into separate bowls and add the food coloring needed for each detail (hats, bow, and apple leaf/stem). Then use the royal icing to pipe the shapes onto parchment paper (red for Snow White’s bow, green for the apple leaf/stem, and various colors for the hats). Let them dry (takes approximately 1-2 hours).

  •  Then peel off the parchment. Attach the pieces onto the character donuts with a bit of white royal icing (which acts as glue), and they’re ready to go. Enjoy!

Check Out this Disney World Emporium Lego Ideas

Here at Chip and co we love creative Lego ideas and we are especially loving this Disney World Emporium LEGO ideas! Here developer André Blix has created the “greatest emporium located in the happiest place on earth!”, creating the famous Emporium shop at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World.

Disney World Emporium Lego ideas

André Blix’s Disney World Emporium features a two-story modular building functioning as a store on the first floor, and then a showcase on the second floor! The Disney World Emporium Lego ideas were made out of 2558 lego bricks. The designer mentioned that he hopes one day to complete the entire “Main Street USA” with shops, scenery and ride tributes (we love a good easter egg!).

According to the description, the two floors contain:

1st Floor store:

  • 2 x Product shelves
  • Check out area
  • Mickey Mouse wall decoration
  • Gift shop display
  • Entrance to adjacent modular building

2nd Floor attraction:

  • “Pirates of the Caribbean” boat ride (not affiliated with the movie franchise)
  • Scenery and figures complimenting ride
  • Fun

We adore the attention to detail from the developer, including Mary Poppins and of course, the large Mickey Mouse behind the till! We really hope he continues developing to complete “Main Street USA!”
