Disneyland can Reopen Under Phase 3 Guidelines as Early as June

disneyland

According to California officials and The Orange County Register, Disneyland and other theme parks can now reopen in Phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan.

“Theme parks are slated to open in Stage 3 if the rate of spread of COVID-19 and hospitalizations remain stable,” according to California Health and Human Services Agency spokesperson Kate Folmar.

California Governor Newsom says Phase 3 could begin in June.

“Phase 3 is not a year away. It’s not six months away. It’s not even three months away. It may not even be more than a month away,” Newsom said during a daily press briefing in mid-May. “We just want to make sure we have a protocol in place to secure customer safety, employee safety and allow the businesses to thrive in a way that is sustainable.”

Disneyland and other California theme parks are among the “higher risk” businesses and gatherings that would reopen in Stage 3 with adaptations and limits on the size of gatherings.

The state will work with theme parks on developing COVID-19 health and safety reopening plans.

There is no set date for when Phase 3 will begin and no California theme parks have submitted reopening plans yet.

LEGO Store in Disney Springs Reopens on May 27th

LEGO Store

More good news for Walt Disney World Resort! The LEGO Store at Disney Springs will officially reopen to the public on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

The LEGO Store is quite popular among both kids and adults. They have fantastic photo opportunities with their impressive LEGO displays, such as their unofficial store mascot, Brickley the Sea Serpent. The other LEGO character displays are quite impressive and worth seeing while visiting Disney Springs. Shoppers can find brick toys of fan-favorite franchises for Star Wars, Marvel Comics, Disney, and other franchises.

The LEGO Store is reopening on Wednesday along with a handful of other Disney Springs stores, such as the World of Disney and Marketplace Co-op. To protect the health and safety of guests, the store will have capacity limits and require social distancing from other shoppers. Due to the current pandemic concerns, we expect to see some other minor changes. It’s unlikely that the play area will be open. Many kids enjoyed playing with the open LEGO bricks and figures, but it’s understandable if this isn’t available upon reopening.

Have you ever stopped for photos at the LEGO Store in Disney Springs? What are your family’s favorite LEGO toys? Let us know in the comments!

Phase 2 Reopening for Orange County Moves Forward According to California Governor

disneyland

California Governor Gavin Newsom has approved Orange County’s request to reopen businesses. This is part of the second phase of the plan to ease restrictions.

In stage 2 Orange County will be allowed to have the following businesses reopen with adaptations:

  • In-person dining reservations
  • Retail shopping with social distancing and curbside pickup
  • Manufacturing
  • Offices (when telework not possible)
  • Outdoor Museums
  • Limited Services

“The County of Orange has met the State’s latest metrics to remove its restrictions on the re-opening of more businesses,” said OC Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Michelle Steel, Second District. “Orange County issued guidelines for businesses to operate three weeks ago. With this attestation, it is our goal to ensure all Orange County businesses have the confidence to open as safely and as soon as possible without concerns about the state order.”

A new order has been issued along with additional recommendations to help slow the spread of COVID-19. People are also being asked to wear face coverings while in public.

There’s still no word from Disneyland if this will have dining and retail locations at Downtown Disney reopening any time soon.
