Trump proposes Explore America Tax Credit which includes Theme Parks

Trump proposes Explore America Tax Credit which includes Theme Parks Explore America

The U.S. tourism industry wants people to resume traveling. Soon, a proposed “Explore America” tax credit might help the industry recover. The travel industry has lost 8.1 million jobs so far and is projected to lose $519 billion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lobbyists are currently circulating a proposed plan in Congress that would offer $4,000 tax breaks for U.S. vacationers. The intent is to get Americans to begin traveling and spending money at hotels, theme parks and other tourism businesses.

The “Explore America” tax credit is one of several proposed subsidies that tourism industry lobbyists are pitching to policymakers as the early contours of a new economic stimulus package begin to take shape in Washington. President Trump is in favor of the “Explore America” tax credit.

The tax credit would be a great benefit even though the federal government committed trillions of dollars to stop the economic damage caused by the pandemic. However, they will have to spend even more to help pull the tourism industry back to its feet. Tori Emerson Barnes, a lobbyist for the U.S. Travel Association, went on to say:

“We are grateful to the president for hearing our call for a national effort to get Americans traveling again as the country shifts into the recovery phase.”

Some of the members of the U.S. Travel Association include the Walt Disney Co. and Comcast Corp.’s Universal Parks & Resorts. Also, Roger Dow, CEO and President of the U.S. Travel Association, issued the following statement in regards to the proposed tax credit:

“An ‘Explore America’ tax credit and campaign will do wonders to put America back on the path to prosperity. We applaud the president’s support, and with our industry’s health and safety guidance for the reopening of travel businesses in place, we are very prepared to work with the administration to push the effort forward at the right time.”

News! Rider Swap Is Still Available at Universal Studios

We know you guys have a lot of questions about the Universal Studios theme parks grand reopening today!

Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure Queue

So far, we’ve been running around to give you guys some perspective on what it was like arriving at the parks as well as how the crowds have been today!

And while we’re finally starting to get the hang of using new Universal’s virtual line system, we noticed something we wanted to share with you guys as we disembarked from Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure — a sectioned off rider swap area!

Rider Swap at Universal

We can finally confirm Universal is continuing to use rider swap. If you’re not familiar with this term, it’s where one person waits in line while another person stays outside with a small child (or guest who doesn’t want/isn’t able to ride the attraction). Once the first person rides, they can then “swap” with their partner, and the second person doesn’t have to wait in line again! Disney World also permits rider switch, so we’re interested to see if they will continue to offer this once the parks reopen.

Click here to learn how Universal’s virtual lines work!

Rider Swap at Universal

We spoke with a Universal employee who said folks who want to use rider swap will each need to have their own virtual line reservation, so make sure you book a party of two when you reserve your ride time!

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

We’ll be on the look-out for which attractions are offering rider swap since Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is the first attraction we’ve seen with it!

See what it’s like to wear a mask on some of Universal’s rides here!

Are you excited Universal is still offering rider swap? Let us know in the comments below!
