Star Wars fans will find new adventures to follow with upcoming reading material regarding the exploits of characters featured in The Mandalorian. The new literature content is coming out later in 2020 and will soon go deeper into the world of the Disney+ series than ever before.

So far, it’s been revealed that the new publishing program will include books and other literary content for fans of all ages. The series kicks off this fall, but the planned releases will continue through 2021. For those curious to know more, then check out the list below for a look at some of what’s in store:

  • The Art of The Mandalorian (Season One) by Phil Szostak; cover by Doug Chiang
  • The Mandalorian: Original Novel (adult novel, Del Rey) by Adam Christopher
  • The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide (DK) by Pablo Hidalgo
  • The Mandalorian: Allies & Enemies – Level Two Reader(DLP) by Brooke Vitale
  • The Mandalorian: 8×8 Storybook (title to be revealed later) by Brooke Vitale

Also, there are magazine, novelty, coloring, and activity titles on the way from Titan, Studio Fun, Crayola, Thunder Bay Press, Disney Publishing Worldwide, and Dreamtivity. We personally look forward to seeing new coloring books featuring “The Child” because it’ll give families of all ages the chance to enjoy an artistic activity at home! Younger readers can look forward to a Little Golden Book and a Screen Comix retelling of Season One. It looks like we’ll have a lot to look forward to later this year!

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions

California Says Film Studios Can Resume Filming as of June 12th With Some Conditions. At the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, filming for television and film ended on a moments notice and has just begun getting the all clear to resume around the world.

This week, the California Department of Public Health made a formal announcement stating: “Music, TV and film production may resume in California, recommended no sooner than June 12, 2020, and subject to approval by county public health officers within the jurisdictions of operations,” the department shared. “To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, productions, cast, crew and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by county public health officers.”

According to the report from LA Times, “On Monday, a task force of studios and union officials submitted a 22-page white paper to governors in California and New York; its proposed health and safety guidelines aim to protect workers and performers as production resumes. The paper calls for dramatic changes to what had previously been routine practices in the film and TV industry, which was booming before the pandemic because of the demand for content by multiple streaming services. The shutdown drew focus to long-standing problems with hygiene and sanitation on film sets, including a lack of hand-washing stations.”

It should be noted, some of our favorite upcoming titles are currently or scheduled to be filmed in various locations around the U.S. and the world, so this would only affect titles currently scheduled to film in the State of California. No formal announcement has been made for nationwide filming to resume. We do know that films such as the Avatar Sequels have resumed filming in New Zealand and Prague recently re-opened to international filming and will be one of the filming locations for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier coming to Disney+.

“This is the way.”

Also, if you’re going to Disney Springs, then look around for a Star Wars surprise! A pair of First Order Stormtroopers have invaded Disney Springs and can be seen in the upper level near the shopping district side of World of Disney. They’re stationed on the balconies, so look up to see if you can spot them.

You can find their patrol stations on balconies with the First Order banners. For fun, wear your Star Wars apparel to Disney Springs and show your allegiance to either the Resistance or First Order. The Stormtroopers might provide amusing commentary depending upon their interaction with each guest. Of course, they could also tell you to “move along” to promote social distancing.

Director Deborah Chow Says Untitled Star Wars ‘Kenobi’ Series Is Still In Development

Director Deborah Chow Says Untitled Star Wars ‘Kenobi’ Series Is Still In Development. During a pre-recorded panel between the Mandalorian directors and show runners, director Deborah Chow shared an update regarding her upcoming, and currently untitled, Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series for Disney+.

Fellow director Taika Waititi was asked about the progression of his recently announced Star Wars feature film joking that it was “all finished”. Chow was asked a similar question regarding her new series and shared, “We have a little more to do than that, but we’re in development.”

The series has been through many delays and hurtles since its inception. In the beginning the series was actually meant to be a new Star Wars film following Obi-Wan Kenobi as he looks after a young Luke Skywalker, albeit from a distance, to make sure he is not found by Darth Vader or the Empire on Tatooine.

Then out of the blue, Disney and Lucasfilm seemed to outright cancel all future Star Wars projects in 2018 outside of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with no explanation other that the fear of “film fatugue” for the franchise. Turns out, the studios were actually gearing up for the big reveal of Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.

The previously canceled films found a new home on Disney+ as exclusive content, only this time, the films would be adapted into series such as The Mandalorian, untitled Kenobi and untiled Cassian Andor (Rogue One) series, as well as another untitled series reportedly lead by a female protagonist.

The creation of Disney+ also sparked a 6th and final season for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and it is currently rumored that some of the characters from Star Wars: Rebels and The Clone Wars are set to appear in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
