Jon Favreau Confirms ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Production Delays Will Not Affect the Premiere Date

Jon Favreau Confirms ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Production Delays Will Not Affect the Premiere Date. During an interview with CNBC, newly appointed Disney CEO Bob Chapek shared that “there will be no delay on Mandalorian” and that the series is still expected to premiere on Disney+ in October 2020.

Some fans were skeptical that the series would face minimal delays, but we now have confirmation from the series showrunner and creator Jon Favreau that The Mandalorian Season 2 will premiere in October 2020 as previously scheduled.

“We were lucky enough to have finished photography before the lockdown, so thanks to how technology-forward Lucasfilm and ILM are, we’ve been able to do all the editing visual effects remotely… It will be available as planned on Disney+ in October,” Favreau shared while speaking with series directors Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Rick Famuyiwa.  “It will be building on hopefully what people loved from the first season. It doesn’t feel like the next season, it feels like work continuing.” Adding, “I hope people are having as much seeing it as we are having making it.”

The series finished filming back in February 2020 and is currently being edited at home thanks to the dedicated VFX artists and editors at Lucasfilm. Disney also recently ordered a third season of the mega-popular Star Wars series, which will likely premiere on Disney+ in October 2021, similarly to how the first two seasons were released via the new streaming service.

Earlier this year, The Mandalorian Animation Supervisor, Hal Hickel shared with Variety , “A big tentpole summer film, like say Avengers, might be around 2,000 visual effects shots, and these series are a little shy of 4,000 visual effects shots for Season One, and Season Two is no different. We’re doing them in around the same amount of time, maybe even less time, than a big summer film, plus we all have to work remotely. We’re in the middle of that tsunami now, but we’re going to get it all done, people are going to get their Baby Yoda, I promise.”

Josh Gad and GMA Surprise COVID-19 Heath Care Worker and Her Daughter. Ashley and her daughter Paige have sacrificed several months of time together as Ashley works hard in Pittsburg, PA to help COVID-19 patients and has not had a single day off since February 2020.

Good Morning America caught wind of Ashley’s story and wanted to help bring a little Disney magic to their day by organizing a conversation with Josh Gad after finding out Paige is a HUGE fan of Olaf and the Frozen franchise.

Between reading bedtime stories on weeknights to help kids sleep, recording Olaf shortsfrom home to share with fans, and preparing for his busy future film schedule, Josh has been juggling all his tasks and still manages to make appearance on talk shows, news programs, and appearances in the Disney Family Singalongs! Whew, don’t forget to take a break once in a while Josh.

In the video, GMA host T.J. opens the video by first interviewing Ashley, then Paige, about all the hard work Ashley is doing for her patients About midway through their conversation T.J. brings up Paige’s love for Olaf and then surprises the pair with an appearance by Josh Gad himself! Gad shared a supportive message for Paige and Ashley and the two are left rather speechless during the whole exchange. At the end of the segment, Ashley shared a recorded video of Paige after the interview was over and she is simply bouncing with joy!

You can watch the adorable exchange in the video shared by Good Morning America below:

Oh. M. Goodness, isn’t Paige the cutest?!? She was clearly very excited to get to talk to Olaf and is supportive of her mommy’s hard work to help keep people safe and healthy! We loved seeing the joy on her face after months of sacrificed time together. Thank you Ashley for your dedication and work.

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Showrunners Tease MCU Crossover in the Final Season

‘Agents of SHIELD’ Showrunners Tease MCU Crossover in the Final Season. The show runners for the hit series Agents of SHIELD teased something big is coming to the series in Season 7. The big tease came from an interview with Deadline about the final season and the show runners, Jefffrey Bell, Jed Whedon, and Jeph Loeb were asked about the potential for any MCU crossover for the series to which all three responded: “We’re going to bump into something,” Jed Whedon teased. “Yeah, we’ll bump into something,” Jeph Loeb shared with a laugh. “Something will definitely happen,” Jeffrey Bell replied.

“Part of making a show is a puzzle and part of it is a game and you’re working with people that you’ve known for a long time to try to create something good. Then, when you come to the end there is a bit of a pressure that you want to get that right. Here, I think it’s safe to say that all of us we feel like the audience will feel the thing we wanted them to feel in the end and will feel satisfied with the ending,” Whedon explained. “I also think that the emotion of having a last season and knowing it’s the end is heavy. I think that that carries into the episodes and carries into the storyline and the performances, and all of it. So, we’re happy with it and we’re actually happy to revisit it as we watch it, because we finished it a while ago,” Whedon added with a laugh.

Though all three refrained from sharing too much about what said crossover may be this has Marvel fans chomping at the bit to know: “Who or what will we see in the pending crossover?” With the clear use of time travel in the series and films truly, the possibilities are endless. We could be introduced to a new face that is set to appear in the films or Disney+ Marvel Series currently in the works, or we may see a veteran character appear and catch the team off guard. Personally, my vote is a young Steve Rogers (Captain America) before the super soldier serum and a young Bucky Barnes, but that remains to be seen.

We are already aware of several appearances such as Patton Oswalt’s return to the series, Enver Gjokaj reprising his role as Daniel Sousa from sister series Agent Carter, and more cameos are expected in the future according to series star Chloe Bennet (Daisy Johnson).

We can’t wait to see who and/or what is in store for the team in Season 7, but we are sad to see the series ending after a successful run on ABC. What do you think the big twist is? Which characters would you like to see appear in the series? We would love to hear your theories and thoughts in the comments.

New Agents of SHIELD episodes premiere on Wednesday Nights at 9 PM C/10 PM EST on ABC. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Marvel!

Lucasfilm Reveals Freaky Original Concept Art for “Baby Yoda” in The Mandalorian

Lucasfilm Reveals Freaky Original Concept Art for “Baby Yoda” in The Mandalorian. In the latest episode of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Lucasfilm and Disney revealed some of the original concept art for the internet sensation, The Child, aka Baby Yoda. The team received a ton of drawings and renderings for the character but ultimately chose a design based off Chris Alzmann’s now iconic character design.

The production team also knew they wanted to use the tried and true method at Lucasfilm of using puppetry and mechanics for realism rather than a CGI version of the character. One of the series stars, Werner Herzog was adamant the production team should ditch the idea of a contingency plan revolving around a CGI rendering of “The Child” for the series.

“It was a phenomenal achievement of sculpting mechanically. When I saw this, it was so convincing, it was so unique,” Herzog shared with The New York Times. “And then the producers talked about, ‘Shouldn’t we have a fallback version with green screen and have it be completely digitally created?’ I said to them: It would be cowardly. You are the trailblazers. Show the world what you can do.”

We got lots and lots of drawings,” shared show runner and creator Jon Favreau in the latest episode of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. “Some of them were too cute, some of them were too ugly, some of them were the wrong proportions.”

“It was finally that one image that Chris Alzmann did that had him wrapped up in what looked like a piece of a flight jacket or something,” the creator confessed. “And his eyes were a little weird, and he looked a little out of it, there was something a little off with it. But we found it charming, and that became the rallying image that we said, ‘This is good.’”

It did not take long after the premiere of the first episode of The Mandalorian in November 2019 for the world to fall in love with Baby Yoda. Favreau previously credited Disney and Lucasfilm with the success of the series after they refrained from spoiling the characters appearance with the release of themed merchandise until after the series premiere, a very uncommon practice now a days.

Do you agree keeping “Baby Yoda” secret was a good idea? Were you surprised by the reveal at the end of Episode 1? Have you been enjoying The Mandalorian on Disney+? What do you think of the original concept art? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
