BREAKING NEWS: Disney World SUSPENDS FastPass+ and Cancels Existing FastPass Reservations

Yesterday, Disney announced their plan to reopen Disney World beginning July 11th with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They then plan to reopen Hollywood Studios and Epcot beginning July 15th.

Many changes have been announced as part of Disney World’s reopening plan. For starters, they have suspended new hotel reservations and ticket sales as they roll out a brand new reservation system. Now, they have made a HUGE update regarding FastPass+.

According to Disney, due to the current health situation, “the FastPass+ service will be suspended for the time being as we plan to use additional queue space to manage capacity at our attraction and maintain physical distancing. We will automatically cancel existing FastPass+ selections and share any future updates on the service at a later date.”

We noticed our FastPasses we had booked for July disappeared earlier today, but we weren’t sure why. Extra Magic Hours will be suspended for the time being as well. We have MANY more updates that Disney has released regarding the Disney Dining Plan and MORE.

Disney has also canceled all Disney Dining Plans and current Dining Reservations through the end of the year. Click Here to Read More!

So What Should You Do NOW?

First of all — don’t panic. If you have a current Disney World hotel package, that’s still there, and Disney has stated that those guests who have existing reservations will get priority access for new bookings.

Disney has also stated that they will re-open Dining Reservation and Experience (e.g. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, backstage tours, etc) bookings closer to their opening date (the lead time will be 60 days instead of 180 days for now). But you should still be able to make dining reservations and experience bookings for your vacation.

As for the FastPass system, Disney has noted that the limited capacity of the parks will offer a reduction in wait times for attractions and rides. We’ll keep our ear to the ground for more details there a well.

That said, we understand that many of you worked very hard to book the perfect plans for your vacation — some of you having rescheduled multiple times already. And on that we truly feel your pain. This is a very difficult time when it’s so hard to book these trips in the first place.

If you have worked with a travel agent to plan your trip, contact them for more details and for next steps. If you booked your trip yourself, try not to worry. We will get more information from Disney about the new booking procedures and we’ll share them with you ASAP. Things are gonna be a little bit different here for a while, but stick with us. We have your back as far as Disney info, details, and advice. And if you have any specific questions, please let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to find answers for you.

All Disney World dining reservations, experience bookings, Disney dining plan and FastPass+ selections will be canceled

In a statement released from Disney, they talk about upcoming changes that will affect your Disney World Vacation. The biggest news is the cancelation of all dining reservations, experience bookings, Disney dining plan and FastPass+ selections.

Some of the information we already know and the other is new information. I just put it all together in one big post for you broken up so you can jump to the section that pertains to you…

Update on Walt Disney World Resort Operations — Including Theme Parks and Water Parks

Following the recent reopening of Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort, we’re pleased to share that more Disney magic is coming back. On May 27, we submitted a proposal to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force in Florida describing our approach for a phased reopening of Walt Disney World Resort theme parks planned to begin on July 11th.

Additionally, attractions, experiences (such as shows, parades and fireworks), services and amenities may have limited availability or may remain closed. We will provide more information as it becomes available. We reserve the right to cancel any reservations, admission media or purchases and provide applicable refunds.

Our focus remains on the health and safety of the entire Disney community—including the well-being of the Cast Members who are caring for and securing our parks and Resorts during the closure. We’re currently evaluating new and enhanced safety measures to help us all stay well.

Below, you’ll find information on impacts to current and upcoming plans. Please continue to check back for additional updates.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Resorts

Disney Vacation Club properties at Walt Disney World Resort and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will begin to reopen to Members and Guests on June 22nd.

Disney Vacation Club properties in Vero Beach, Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina will open to Members and Guests on June 15th.

Beginning May 28, 2020, all dining reservations, experience bookings, Disney dining plan and FastPass+ selections will be canceled. Guests with existing Resort reservations will have priority access to the new park reservation system when it becomes available. Additionally, when reservations for dining and other experiences resume, Guests who had existing reservations will receive priority access to rebook. Keep in mind, for dining locations within our parks, Guests will need a park reservation and valid admission before they can rebook dining and experiences.

Guests who purchased a Disney dining plan and tickets for dates between May 28, 2020 and September 26, 2021 will receive an automatic cancellation and refund of their Disney dining plan.

Guests who booked Resort hotel reservations with a Free Dining package for dates between May 28, 2020 and September 26, 2021 will receive an automatic cancellation of their Disney dining plan and are invited to rebook their vacation for a later date with a 35% room discount.

Plans to support required physical distancing as well as enhanced cleaning measures, along with a number of other safety and cleanliness protocols, will be implemented as part of this planned phased reopening.

Modifications, Cancellations and Refunds

When the parks reopen, park attendance will be managed through a new park reservation system. To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date is required. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.

At this time, we are temporarily pausing new ticket sales so we can focus on Guests with existing tickets. Existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders will be able to make reservation requests in phases before new tickets are sold; we’ll be reaching out to these Guests soon to provide additional details. We will resume new ticket sales after that period of time.

Unexpired multi-day theme park tickets with unused days, or date-specific theme park tickets with a valid use period beginning March 12, 2020 through the end of the actual closure period will automatically be extended to use any date through December 15, 2020. If you are unable to visit by December 15, 2020, you may apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.

Florida Resident Discover Disney Tickets may be used through September 30, 2020.

Guests who have purchased tickets for Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours, Disney Early Morning Magic and Disney H2O Glow Nights from March 16, 2020 through the end of the actual closure period will be automatically refunded.

For ticket orders, express shipping and standard shipping will be delayed due to the closure.

Disney Resort Rooms and Packages

At this time, we are temporarily pausing Disney Resort hotel reservations so we can focus on Guests with existing reservations (Disney Vacation Club Members can still make new reservations). We will resume new hotel reservations after that period of time.

To find out what’s happening at Disney Resort hotels – including updates to Resort activities, recreation, rentals and pool cabanas – please contact your travel professional.

Dining & Other Experiences

In order to foster physical distancing during this time, upon reopening, our offerings, restaurants and other experiences such as behind-the-scenes tours will be limited in capacity, and other experiences may remain closed. As a result of limited capacity, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all existing dining reservations and experience bookings, including Disney dining plans included in packages, through the end of the year. We will reopen dining and experience bookings with more limited numbers closer to when the parks reopen. We will also shift from a 180-day booking window to a 60-day booking window for dining and experience bookings going forward to allow Guests to make their plans closer to their visits.

As a result of the COVID-19 impact, the FastPass+ service will be suspended for the time being as we plan to use additional queue space to manage capacity at our attractions and maintain physical distancing. We will automatically cancel existing FastPass+ selections and share any future updates on the service at a later date. Also, please note that upon reopening, Extra Magic Hours will be temporarily suspended.

Disney is reaching out to guests affected by these updates with additional information and details on options, including refunds. They understand how much excitement, thought and time goes into planning a Disney vacation and realize some of these changes may be disappointing. Please know they will be here to help you, as they remain focused on delivering a wonderful experience for everyone who visits.

You can visit a new “Know Before You Go” hub at DisneyWorld.com/Updates, where you can find the latest updates on our operations and offerings, including details on how to modify your plans. If you booked through a third-party, we recommend you reach out directly to your travel professional or ticket seller.

We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we continue to keep the well-being of guests and cast members in mind. Stay tuned for more information over the next few weeks on how to use the theme park reservation system and other tips to be aware of prior to your visit.

NEWS! Disney World Adds New Payment Options Including Apple Pay to Mobile Order!

Now there are even more ways to take advantage of Mobile Order at Disney World!

D-Luxe Burger

For years, Mobile Order has allowed guests to use the My Disney Experience app to pre-order and pre-pay for their food at select quick-service locations. Yesterday, we shared that they had added a new pick-up time feature to Mobile Order. Now, they have added new payment options.

Guests now also have the option to pay with Apple Pay, Disney Gift Card, or a Disney Reward Card! For guests with Apple Pay set up on their mobile device, they will see the option to use Apple Pay on their order summary page.

By continuing to Checkout, you’ll also see the option to pay by Disney Gift Card or Disney Rewards Redemption Card!

Mobile Order Payment Options

By clicking on the “Add a Card” link within the Disney Gift Card section, guests can then select which type of card they’d like to enter.

Add a Disney Gift Card in Mobile Order

Note that only one Disney Gift Card or Disney Rewards Redemption Card can be applied per order. We love using Mobile Order to bypass long lines at quick-service dining locations, so we’re excited to see there are even more ways to take advantage of this feature!

With the parks looking to reopen in July, they have mentioned that they will be pushing for contactless payments and Mobile Order is one easy way to do that.

We will continue to keep you updated as new changes are implemented around Disney World!

News: Reopened Theme Parks Will Look “Drastically Different” According to Florida’s Orange County Mayor

Yesterday, Disney World shared that they plan to reopen Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom July 11th followed by Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15th.

Palm Trees

Today, in a press conference, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings provided updates on the reopening of businesses and theme parks.

Mayor Demings began the conference by addressing the fact that hurricane season begins this Monday, June 1st. He acknowledged that this could cause further complexities to other health and reopening initiatives in the future.

See why Hurricane Season could be EXTRA active this year here!

Demings also noted that both SeaWorld and Disney World submitted reopening proposals yesterday. He has submitted letters of endorsement for both and is awaiting a response from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Mayor Demings said that in the last hour, he has heard that 12 smaller theme park reopening plans had been approved, and he suspects Governor DeSantis will get back to him “soon” regarding the larger theme parks.

Mayor Demings also addressed a question about how they will balance safety with the need for business in an economy dependent on tourism. He said that tourist attractions will reopen with reduced capacity and increased sanitation measures, and noted that the theme parks will “look drastically different.”

See what Disney has said about their new reopening procedures here!

He also said that multiple organizations could be involved in maintaining compliance, including the Department of Health, Department of Business Regulations, local law enforcement, and more.

We’ll continue to keep a close eye out for any updates from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis regarding approval of the reopening proposals put forth by Disney World and SeaWorld. And we will keep sharing news and information regarding new Disney World processes and regulations as they are released.
